Even old mate @olisik has fully admitted that he will only comment on here when there is a loss..

What an absolute hoot he would be at any party.

Who's having parties these days? ?

Speaking of parties, with Kozzie's quick feet - he'd be a monty to win twister... you know the one, where you drop the keys in the bowl?

Absolutely love Kysaiah (“ Kozzzzzzy “) Pickett.
He brings the excitement to the game and is the small forward we need to bring the pressure and the energy to our forward 50.

But he is still a raw kid who needs coaching.  I have watched both the Pies and Bulldogs games live and have some coaching observations.

1- Kozzy gets sucked up the ground too much especially v the dogs.  In general play, he has been brought upfield too much leaving us with no forward crumbers.  HE NEEDS TO BE INSTRUCTED TO STAY IN THE FORWARD 50.  That’s where he is truly dangerous. Not on the HFF or wing where he is consumed and tackled in traffic.   Get him either 1 on 1 or at the feet of Weid or running around the goals.  We lacked the forward pressure and crumbing.  Where was the front and centre roving which we saw against the Pies.

2- Kozzy needs to stop flying into packs to take the mark.  Twice v Bulldogs we had Weid, Fritsch and Kozzy all flying together in a pack.  Guess what. No one down to get the crumbs. Twice the footy came out the back to the dogs to run it out.

3- Kozzy loves to snap the footy across his body.  Twice he hit the post on Saturday which would have been crucial goals. It’s unlucky but both times he could have steadied for a regular drop punt. Everyone loves a Stevie J snap but sometimes a regular kick is better.

Just some observations which I’m sure our Supercoach will be fully across.

Even before he was rested for the Adelaide game, he had developed some horrible traits in his game (reaching for the ball with one arm, not positioning himself at the feet of the key forwards, going to ground too easily, etc). Sadly he doesn't seem to have fixed these issues. He is getting games at the moment because we don't have any other options, not because he deserves them.

That's the spirit!

Since criticising the selections for the Adelaide game, you've posted twice before this: once complaining about our AFLW trade period, and once complaining about our trade in of Kolodjashnij.

Then we lose, and you're back again complaining about our Rising Star nominated first year player.

It's posters like you that make this place so difficult to deal with sometimes.

Few too many are looking around unfortunately.

Wouldn't they be an absolute hoot at a birthday party...

Kozzie will have these days early on, he's got all the tools but it will take a bit of time to put it all together. He's still a bit like watching someone in fast forward at the moment, and I'm sure that's how fast his mind is going as well. A bit more structure in his play and ways of working smarter around the contest should help with this. Confident he's on the right track.

Just to reassure. I’m a big fan of Kozzy.  I just hope he gets the development that has been so lacking in our program over many years. I just had some observations.

Nothing is surer than this kid becoming one of the best players in the game.

Right now hes a teenager whos played 10 games, so of course he will be up and down whilst showing flashes of his brilliance.   So glad he is a Demon!

Well said.

I look forward to seeing him in person, at the G; fingers crossed next year?

Quite right Norm. Kozzie's inexperience stands out like dogs balls and he certainly makes some clangers.

Unfortunately, this crazy season has forced players like him and Jackson to "learn on the job", whereas, in the usual run of of events , they would be doing their apprenticeship at Casey.

But ....... you are just left with the feeling that we might be watching the growth of a future superstar small forward.

Yeah just imagine him and LJ making their MCG debut at the G on a sunny afternoon.  or a  Friday night even better.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
