Why are we so bad at recruiting.

Maybe we should be targeting recruiters. Eg Geelong or Richmond. It appears they can identify football talent. Unlike Melbourne.

We are decent at drafting quality talent. Last years draft looks a ripper for us. We got Rivers late. He would be a top 10 pick if that draft was done again. Jackson also looks every bit a quality top pick. Looks like we got it right. We needed to after list management overpaid previous years and left us bereft of quality young kids coming through. Thankfully Mahoney and Taylor look to have got last year right.

The next move must surely be to parlay them up to a first round pick. There are plenty of clubs that have father/son or nga selections and would trade to split picks and points

You would think so, we have only removed 3 players from our senior list and maybe KK as well.  With list sizes likely to reduce by 2 and us adding Brown will are looking at really only using 3 maybe 4 picks tops, can't see us using any of the picks beyond our current 50 unless for a rookie upgrade.  Would say one of 26/31/33 will be needed for Brown, leaving the other 2 for pick upgrade, hoping for Fremantle's 12, they have 2 players in NGA that will be mid first round pick, if they use 12 in the draft the bids won't be to far after this pick they will be facing a point deficit in 2021.  Also no guarantee a club prior to pick 12 won't bid for one of their NGA players.

The other option is going after Collingwoods future first round pick

Anyone think we could package 18 and 19 up for one of Essendon's top 10 picks? Could we get a walk in winger for one of the picks? Cheers.

Reckon 19 & 28 for a pick around the 10 mark perhaps?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
