I would say that my tolerance of people with mental problems was not as good as it could have been, I have tended to say oh just get on with life. But recently I had a bout of serious physical ill health that went on for months. After some time it affected me mentally not serious but still I discovered what it was like to walk in someone else's shoes. Easier  said than done " just get on with it". 

Also this is central to this whole Thread OD. 

Because it it mostly those who are more sensitive nature'd,  who more often suffer depression and anxiety issues.

 

And it goes, that those less sensitive of nature are most often in leadership roles;  were they play the politics of the systems better,  and so, they go on to make a lot of insensitively based decisions and laws.

And soon, the society is out of balance.

 

And its the sensitive creatives who are more on the humanities/arts,  and science based roles within our communities.

 

It's these sensitive types who should be the leaders; but the system does not work for the true Quiet Australians.

It is not Neville Jetta, Eddie Betts or Adam Goodes job to 'get over' cheap shots from racists.

You can't tell people who have suffered decades of persecution for their race, ethnicity, gender or religious beliefs to just 'get over it'. 

Getting over it implies that the people being targeted are the ones in the wrong. They are not.

Would you tell a holocaust survivor to 'get over it and move on'? How about a rape victim? A family who lost a child? A war veteran with PTSD? 

It is not up to us to decide when someone should get over it. It is up to us to ensure there is nothing to get over by stamping out and calling out pathetic racist behaviour.

The point of this tweet is to seek attention, we have given it 5 pages of attention. While racism should not be tolerated neither should virtue signalling a post that everyone it seems, thinks should not be tolerated.

Moderators should have killed this thread within the first few replies. Keeping it on here is justifying the success of this type of post for attention seeking.I am sure the demonland rules are against promoting racism. Just having a thread on it is supporting racism. A football thread is not the place for this sort of thread anyway.

There is a lot more to this than the you say here 'Mel'...

Zep have become the whipping boys (The ANB's or Omac's of music) on this one and yeah there is an argument to be made.

...but the problem with legal protection for a lot of the old blues songs is no one knows who really wrote them in the first place, and usually no one in particular did. If that makes sense.

They all plagiarised each other, but it wasn't called that then as there was no money in it so nobody bothered.

It's folk music, it's been handed down over generations.

I've heard Big Bill Broonzy talk about borrowing from so and so who borrowed from so and so and on and on.

Who did write "Key to the Highway' for example.

One thing is for sure...BB King, Muddy Waters and the like made a good living because the British artists championed their work.

They took 'Race' music back to the US masses...many of whom thought it was original stuff from the UK.

Would it have happened without Clapton, the Stones...who knows.

Maybe at a later time...

I mean even Hendrix had to go to the UK to kick start his solo career.

He'd been kicking around the US before as a sideman but had to go away and come back to be recognised.

Of course the problem was always there, and still is. 
But back then it wasn’t Considered a Problem. It wasn’t considered anything. Segregation was “normal” until certain people said ...enough

Please don’t start with this. I chose to stay home because it was the SAFE thing to do in the midst of a global pandemic. There are other ways to oppose and fight against racism. 
Given the current increase in cases, a big gathering like that was unwise and dangerous.

Whereas the March has 3 repeat 3 cases linked directly to it

You have to take a public stand, otherwise it gets brushed away

I felt safer at the March, than I did at Victoria Gardens shopping centre the next day

Hardly the point. The point is that we were told not to gather in large groups. I chose to listen and follow the rules. Many didn’t and yes we are lucky to have low case numbers from the protests, but people not listening and not doing the right thing is exactly why we are seeing a second wave. 
It could have easily happened as a result of the protests.

We are seeing the large numbers, because people are being what I was called on here SELFISH

Social media would be much better if peoples identities are verified and even if using an alias cannot simply create another account. Well said deegirl.

To me the movement against racism is about us as a society speaking up against racism. If someone says something racist, pull them up on it regardless of the forum.

Also I'll put my hand up as someone who has even recently made racially inappropriate comments among close friends as a joke, a form of casual racism which really isn't funny. On reflection I've made a commitment to stop this and also pull up others for the same thing, as this will make a positive difference to society.
