The injury list has been pared back a little and the good news is that Brock McLean is available this week and Clint Bartram is also available after a long lay off due to that ankle injury suffered in round 22 last year. Jace Bode's back however, seems to be deteriorating:-

Clint Bartram (ankle) available

Jace Bode (back) 3-4 weeks

Brock McLean (thigh) available

Nick Smith (amnesia) 4 - 6 weeks

Colin Sylvia (groin) 1 week

Matthew Warnock (ankle) 1 week

Isaac Weetra (hamstring) 1 week

Any news on Daniel Hayes appreciated especially by dazzledavey36.

Last week's injury list was:-

Clint Bartram (ankle) 2-3 weeks

Jace Bode (back) 2 - 3 weeks

Ben Holland (hip) test

Travis Johnstone (foot) test

Brock McLean (thigh) 1 week

Nick Smith (amnesia) 4 - 6 weeks

Colin Sylvia (groin) 2 -3 weeks

Matthew Warnock (ankle) 2-3 weeks

Paul Wheatley (ankle) test

Holland, Johnstone and Wheatley all made it through their tests and played in practice matches at the weekend.

Awesome news, I heard barty wasn't gonna be back until round 4!? Alwell, all is good but he probably wont be the same missing a pre-season.

LOL at 426, guys got amnesia, still thinks hes playing for us...

It never gets old

And if that injury news is accurate regarding Brock, Colin and Bartram then we couldnt be in better shape for Round 1!!

Very happy. Will be supprised if Bartram has as good a year as 06 but u cant blame him due to injurey and little preseason. Any news on Moloney...will he be back to his stellar season he had with Geelong.

Saw that Saints have massive injury issues. Hammil, Kosi, Reiwoldt, R Clark, Hudghton, Guardner. Looks good so far. Hopefully Guerig will try and dodge Caroll again and rub him out for the season. I would LOVE that :D

What? Is Nick Smith still a dee?

I thought he got released?

Sylvia is 1 week like I'm 1 week!! Sylvia is closer to 2 months, despite reports.

Correct, and don't get excited about Bartram either.

His ankle may have healed, but he has a fair few weeks of fitness training before he's ready to play. He will most likely play a couple of half games at Sandy, before they contemplate selecting him in the side.

As for Sylvia, Round 8 would be a good result.

Word is that Col is a long way off still. The upside is that if he recovers and then plays 3 weeks for Sandy and comes through ok, he'll be as keen as mustard come mid-season/serious end. I have an awful feeling however that even this is optimistic, but I wish him the best.

Despite what some might think simply playing games is going to be the best way to get Bartram fit for a return to AFL level.

Bartram is NOT in the squad... 2-3 weeks to available in the space of a week?

occo what about the season Beamer played for MELBOURNE...it was worth 4th in the B+F

Point taken but u must admit u would be dissopointed since we have got him and hes been injury prone. What is it with our club and OP

Does anyone actually know the full story on Sylvia. I know we had to wait quite a while to get the best out of Trav, and patience is important with young players. The story is that the kid can seriously play and I am willing to wait as long as it takes and stand by the bloke for a few years if we have to - and I hope we do. It's just frustrating not getting to see him out on the field week in and week out. Brock has already become a star and he was picked in the same draft. I dare say that Sylvia might already be classed as good as Brock if he'd had a couple of pre-seasons and 50 games under his belt. It's sad that the kid just can't take a trick at the moment. Can anyone shed more light?

Can anyone shed more light?

He's got OP, and it's a condition that he's had since before he was drafted.

I think he was badly managed as a youngster, and now our club is trying to solve this problem for him.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
