I went to this game, the first game I'd attended since the 1987 Semi against the Swans. I left during the third quarter, my head shaking, wondering just why Melbourne players kept kicking the ball to GWS players. I walked to Richmond station, got off the train at Box Hill and checked on my phone to see how much we'd been beaten by...

And then?

Apparently Freo have loaned us Jesse Hogan back for the 4th quarter only , hopefully he has an impact ?

Now that is an innovation we'd like to see! Open the transfer window for May 31 202_ . Have Jesse return on loan (a la the English soccer) for the remainder of the season. Re-kindle his passion for the game and sort out the dysfunction in the forward line. Win win. ?

And still the same problems as we still have Now, last kick inside 50, winning I50 count but can’t score, defensive running.
suprise suprise.

I was standing on the corner of Whitehorse Road and Station Street. I smiled and said, Well I'll be. Then I said, You idiot , you should have stayed. Oh ye of little Faith.

Hopefully we beat the Saints and Freo in the next two weeks to make it into the virtual 8. ?

I think we've all done this in one form or another.

Remember this game very well.

Not quite sure why, but I went into it very confident of a good win - It was Round 2 that (rightfully) had me concerned.

Despite the pre-season optimism, I don't think even the optimistic posters saw Clayton Oliver coming.

Huge 4th quarter by Watts and Hogan.

I only got to watch the first half but it was great to see how good an injury free Viney can be. Oliver in his first game demanding a tag. And AVB in full flight. Great memories. If only J Watts could have consistently built on that form, he would be a real bonus these days.

Dieter I am an old Box Hill boy what street did you live in? I grew up down South Box Hill way.

Man it was just different with Jesse...?

Melbourne faithful were up & about that day!

??

Reckon we would have beaten GWS this week.

Actually no way of proving otherwise, so I reckon we would have smashed them.

Did anyone else see the TV flogs talking about an 8 round comp? Now THAT would test your emotions about a Grand Final spot.

Regan, east of, parallel to Dorking Road...

I'm really annoyed with Foxtel, the only game they've made available on demand for the live recall is the Pies vs Tigers. I would really like to be able to watch it now (anything the pass the time right ?).

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
