@Sir Why You LittleThat headline is scaremongering.  Its that sort of stuff that induces panic.

Did you notice this part of the article, I listed:  "Boris Johnson's government is mounting the argument that the outbreak is now so far gone that it is actually desirable for people to get infected. And a lot of people – potentially up to 70 per cent of the country's population, or roughly 47 million".

Even with a miniscule death rate that will be a lot of people dying.  How a government can risk so many lives with what is a complete mystery is incomprehensible.

Nobody knows the answer. There is no vaccine for about 12-18 months.
We have to build up our own immune systems to beat this.
Playing in the dirt as kids will probably benefit some of us.
People are dying and will continue to do so

Australians are going to learn big lessons, we have had it easy for a long time.
Britian is expecting Corona to still be affecting people by Spring 2021

The Strong should be kept away from the weak

This could change Society

Staggering, given that one of the most fundamental tenets of socially developed states (perhaps we should exclude the US) is to maintain public health systems and look after all groups in society, poor, rich, young and old. I suspect that Boris was flying a flag for dubious political reasons. He is now backing away from that stance again for political reasons.

In virology terms the herd immunity argument is correct, but in societal terms it is inhumane.. Ashley's comments are all about acting in a humane way.

Its interesting that modern popular leaders like Boris, Trump and ScoMo irrespective of their IQ, seem devoid of reasoning, analysis and empathy.

I agree, but it depends how vicious this virus becomes, or whether it has peaked

The big risk is resurgence ie the 'second wave'.  It looks to have peaked and when restrictions are lowered it comes back.

One way or another it will be around for a while.

Fascinating read.... A vaccine....perhaps next year...

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/15/when-will-a-coronavirus-vaccine-be-ready-human-trials-global-immunisation

It’s for these reasons that taking a vaccine candidate all the way to regulatory approval typically takes a decade or more, and why President Trump sowed confusion when, at a meeting at the White House on 2 March, he pressed for a vaccine to be ready by the US elections in November – an impossible deadline. “Like most vaccinologists, I don’t think this vaccine will be ready before 18 months,” says Annelies Wilder-Smith, professor of emerging infectious diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. That’s already extremely fast, and it assumes there will be no hitches.

society has to continue otherwise we are all dead

This approach is far worse

The amount of posters i have on ignore grows by the day when reading this thread.

Have some [censored] empathy with your fellow humans you heartless bastards. (Some of you i mean)

This is a worldwide problem and EVERYONE is going to feel its consequences in either a health and/or financial way.

Nobody is an island and the chances are that the person you are abusing today will be the one you are relying on tomorrow.

FFS people, stop the pathetic political point-scoring and just get around each other. I cant stand SJW's usually, but i will completely ignore a persons political leanings when push comes to shove. This bug isnt asking who you barrack for before it infects you. If ANYTHING should be bringing us together its this absolute disaster. That so many are trying to score political points in this thread disgusts me.

We are all human beings with the same needs and frailties as everyone else. If you need help, we should all be prepared to offer what assistance we can.

Think about your next post before you press send.

Read through the thread.

It's ALWAYS the lefties that drag politics into a thread. Every single time.

I would suggest that anyone expressing the views you have would not have any overseas travel planned. Yeah, that would surely be the case.  ?

Taiwan is thus far managing to contain this virus exceptionally well considering their proximity to a number of badly hit countries, but that is due to their diligence at all levels... informative reporting and regular public service announcements providing advice for managing the situation on TV, restaurants and stores providing hand sanitiser and taking temperatures before admitting you, cheap access to surgical masks done according to your national health card’s digit (odd or even), etc etc.  I fear for the US with their version of Zig and Zag (Trump and Pence) running the show. It’s only a matter of time before their case numbers go through the roof.

Yeah, the open border loving Democrats would be a much better option in a pandemic.  Jesus christ.

You should be kissing the ground knowing Trump is in charge.

What's the difference? Are you serious?

Frankly if you don't understand the difference then perhaps you should spend less time thinking about crackpot conspiracy theories and actually try to learn something.

Maybe start with the difference between a drug that stops people catching a virus and one that treats the symptoms of a virus once caught.

Sheesh.

Double sheesh.

Double sheesh.

Treats symptoms.   Panadol treats symptoms.    Sheesh ?

I think you'll find that the drugs mentioned are curing the patients of the illness, but yet to undergo trials.   Even if its after the illness has already caught.

Now If I could invent a cure-all to stop people becoming sick in the first instance,  then I would,   but I am not that clever,  nor involved in that field.

I'm an interested Bystander,  who jumps in to help people whenever the opportunity has arisen.   And I have done so,  rescuing a few people in injured circumstances.

What do you do to aid people in distress,  in your past,  'bm'.

You know,  its easy to type words on a keyboard,  but takes more than eyes and fingertips to actually do something;  and truly care enough to help others when something isn't right in the world.

You say,  why don't I learn the difference between a cure-all drug giving people immunity.   Well,  it doesn't exist,  if it did, it wouldn't last all that long before viruses evolved anyway...  But, who has invented such an "immunity drug".

I am unaware of its existence.

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
