Kozzie showing how dangerous he can be with a few flashes of brilliance in a minute. Just needs to build consistency s he's got the attributes we need up forward.

Maggots are back. Crow 8 metre kicks and marks “paid” in the first quarter. “Play on” for Dees in second quarter.

don't forget the high paid to BCrouch in the first, exact same thing to Clarry and ball-up.

Getting screwed by the umps in February. They're all in on it i tells you

Oliver uncharacteristically fumbling a lot today, dropped a couple of easy marks.

The first posts complaining about umpiring for the year are always something special. Especially in a practice match ?

Petracca has 20 touches

clarry 13

Mystery injury of the week strikes again.

Not an injury as such. More a medical issue. Picked up some form of infection

You think we're going to be able to fix that in a month when we've had all summer?

Match pressure is always tougher than in club

The Coaches are paid to sort this stuff out

This year is put up or get out

Trac dominant today. Hopefully he's fit enough to play proper midfield all year and become a real bull.

360 and given an age, but no wave your arms you muppet.

Crows can't miss.

Corona virus?

So diving has now been added to the list of things to be rewarded for?

Good to see ANB spent all of 3 seconds over summer working on his crippling fumbling deficiency.

He'll never stop doing it.  Never.  I wish our selectors would accept it too and not pick him.

Clumsy by Salem though mac.

9 and 8 shots at goal at one end versus

2 and 3 at the other.
wind must be decent

Not give him contract extensions.

Jackson in the guts as a midfielder.

Looks like a headless chook at the moment to be honest. Not sure the super tall midfielder is the role he should be playing. I know he's undersized for a ruck, but given it's a practice match and Gawn is out, we should give him more of a taste in the ruck. He showed great leap in the few minutes he had there. Either that, or play him goal square as a target.

The only meaningful conclusion to draw from that half is that if Weideman has to ruck for an extended period we will struggle.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
