Training Ground?

No one is cancelling their membership because we go to Waverley for a bit.

Aside from preserving the main oval, why do Collingwood want it?

Collingwood will use the bow mcg size surface as a second training ground along with the glass house in prime location, vfl, aflw, and afl, you need 2 ovals. We will move to Waverley and the members will be told we are focusing on Caulfied which could take ages and get forgotten in the background, unless we are told it's got the green light i wouldn't be moving

I wouldn’t be moving until things are signed and ground broken.

Whats the bet they push us to Waverley, pies take goshes back as second oval, and Caulfied is years away...

Thats one way to lose members

Prospective members don’t give a flying about that mate. The rusted on losers like us are the ones that care (aside from me and a few other enlightened posters) and we are signed up.

Win games and we will get back those members.

Thing is you can't attract top end players when you can't compete with other clubs facilities

So are the members all becoming Collingwood supporters? I don't get your argument.

Our club is like all government

All talk no action.

How can we expect to be a competitive club when we are so far behind in modern club high performance

It's no argument it's the fact that if we move to Waverley, Caulfied will drag on longer... we are being taken for a ride...

We need Caulfied asap, to establish a real home close enough not to drive players mad in traffic and with premium facilities...

Why would you want to play for us if you were a gun footballer?

We should be striving to be the best not forever playing catch up

I genuinely don't see how the two are related at all. From the reports I've seen it feels like Caufield is generally supported and the main issues are disagreements with the specifications.

Hawks attracted top talent at Waverley, Caulfield may be 3+ years if it happens, may not be everything but far better than sharing AAMi getting kicked of with AO, parking for supporters is a nightmare

Training grounds don’t attract top tier talent, successful, well run and well coached clubs attract the best players, well that and plenty of cash.

Show them finals and cash and they’ll come.Eric Bana Chopper GIF by Madman Films

Cal twomey has said that our players expect to be moving to Waverley temporarily whilst Caulfield is built. Or words to that effect.

Like I had previously said.

Wrong decision.

Wrong decision to go to Caulf? Or wrong decision to move to Waverley temporarily?

Here's a look at the Waverley facilities which would be an upgrade on the split AAMI / Gosch's Paddock / MCG training and admin set up, allowing the club to bring everything under one roof.

If this in used in the interim while Caulfield is being approved and eventually developed, it could be a positive.

Please tell me we can get rid of the John Kennedy statue though?

Yeah, that's gone to Dingley.

I've heard it's replaced with a statue of Jimmy Stynes running over the mark.

In that case the collective tears of tens of thousands of Dees supporters will eternally keep that grass green.

thanks for the link. some really good facilities there.

but it's not "everything under one roof". Remember we have to cater for more than just the seniors. As well as AFL there is AFLW, then VFL and VFLW both including listed players, and only "just" room for 1 oval.

solves some problems, but nowhere near "everything". better than now? maybe.

one problem concerns me is that if we give up aami, before we have a "guaranteed" caulfield go ahead, we could be left in a weaker bargaining position. lots of people want to get their hands on aami (filth, ferals and tennis)

It’s all in your imagination, nobody takes over Goschs unless we relinquish our agreement with council.

That’s not going to happen, calm down.

No body is going to pack up and move anywhere now the season has started.

I think it solves co-locating the administration with the primary training base. Casey would still be used to complement Waverley for the reasons you mention. If Caulfield does eventually happen the club has said it will still need Casey to cater for all of the extra demand.

I'd heard that the MFC is aiming to move to Waverley in about June, once the facilities have been fitted out.

I can guarantee, we will not be relocating anywhere mid season.

I have a low opinion of Guerra and Smith, the communication to members has been disgraceful, appalling,

But we we won’t be running three training centres and considering a 20 million dollar tunnel at the race course, as another option.

i know. I just queried the "everything under one roof" claim

waverley has good and bad. our current situation is not very good.

everyone's patience is running rather thin

Yep

those new stadiums they like to build are certainly well out into the boondocks. It's part of the model. Buy cheap industrial land and surround the arena with rent paying franchised restaurants.

Our arenas missed the boat on the surrounding revenue. (Docklands and MCG). Thank heavens

my proposal for FB was based on a commercial entertainment facility in a greenfield location,

included restaurants
