I’ll be in Melbourne mate so yeah.

I am assuming it will be televised. On that basis I would not be going so have little interest. As I understand it will be at the dome. How that fits with things already booked there I have no idea.

No player will care more about this game or try harder than Patrick Dangerfield.. and not cos of the bushfires.

If theyre awarding a medal for BOG he will treat it like a Grand Final (something he will never play in)

I really don’t like these self serving and self congratulating gestures by big organisations. It’s likes sharks promising to eat more people to help combat global warming. Everyone and their dog are jumping on the bandwagon. People can feel good by pretending they are doing something worthwhile when actually they are only getting entertained. Whilst the state is burning we go to cheer at the footy. Plenty of money has been raised and the AFL would be better off just donating their share. Victims will be well compensated already. What is needed is real action against climate change and preserving the environment. I would only approve of the game if the intent is foster awareness and action on climate change. That’s not going to happen.

I would much prefer it if all AFL listed players went out to Bush Fire ravaged towns around Australia and helped out for 3-4 days. That would create a lot of good will

Vic v The Allstars does absolutely zero for me.
The Allstars is not a place or town

The Big V was all about killing WA or SA and vice versa

Once again the AFL have mo idea

Today I received emails from three different business' ( eg the local real estate agent ) informing me of them running appeals and I should give generously.

Now I acknowledge that these people have their heart in the  right place but I have to wonder how and where the funds will be used. It seems like now every business has to have an appeal so as not to be seen as  uncaring. Yesterday I read that the $50 million people donated to the actress woman's appeal can only be used for the NSW rural fire mob. I am fairly confident that the majority of donors were unaware of this when they donated.

IMO there is going to be a lot of money wasted by perhaps good intentioned people who after all are ameteurs in this field.

There are a lot of humans who are hardly worth having around LDC.

I read about Instagramers posting that they will donate $10 for every like they get, then when they have lots of likes they auction the account to others who re-jig the account, essentially selling a list of people. The wonders of social media.

Not entirely true mate. Be careful what you read these days.

It states pretty clearly on Celeste Barber's page where the donations are heading, but on top of that Shane Fitzimmons (RFS Commissioner) has already stated that due to the size of the fund they will distribute the funds. There's more complicated explanations, but they are able to do that, so some funds may go to victims, some to other states etc etc.

Hopefully one of the things that is learned throughout this is about the mass misinformation going on in social media as well as mainstream media so often and without consequence.

Victoria

1. Gawn

2. Oliver

3-4: Viney, Harmes Petracca, Fritsch, Salem, T Mc

All Stars

May injured I would assume we rule him out.

1. Jetta

2-4: Lockhart, ANB, Vanders, Wagner’s, Petty?

I don’t think we have anyone end up playing for the All Stars.

I agree, go out to the towns and help them clean up/run a footy clinic/play a scratch match or something. That said I'm not against the idea of a one of SOO game to help donate to worthy causes.

At the end of the day though we'd like to know that what we are contributing to might help to prevent things getting as bad as they have, but that's in the hands of the state and federal governments. Can't help but feel they've been left flat footed on this.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
