Very similar average disposal number to Nathan Jones and a lot on DL calked for Jones to retire.

Where to from here for Jack?

Gets caught way too often.

Chance for him to show

Chance for him to show something different now that his old mans and Jones shadow are not hanging over him. Will be a better play IMO. Want to see him do smarter things and involve teammates more rather than doing it all himself. Tends to hunt and get his own ball rather than like Jones demanding everyone gives it to him these days. Lingering injuries have also scuppered him this season. Hope he gets a solid full pre season in.

Viney 3rd in the B&F is a solid indication of how the team went in 2019.

He had a very average year. He is a tough unit, i admire that, but his skills were very average

I don’t know why he is Captain, i hear him on the Demon Podcast and he is just a big kid. That is fine, but i think we can do better in the Leadership Department. He needed to lift the team in 2019 and i didn’t see it

interesting 2020 coming up

along with Oliver handballing to someone's feet and Viney getting caught with the ball it does say something about the coaching staff and their Band F voting.

A very underwhelming performance in a totally underwhelming year.

I hope we get to rate Goodwin in this activity

Finishing 3rd in the B & F days a lot about MFC and the 2019 season.

Take your point but as I understand the award the votes by the coaches are heavily weighted to team contribution, adherence to gameplan etc.

If Viney's efforts were so valued by the coaches it suggests to me that they set the wrong KPI's for him.

Stella year for Jack.....3rd in the B & F.

Congratulations!!!

I thought him very ordinary , yet finished 3rd in B&F ?? We also finished 17th under his and Jones leadership.

Needs r=to follow Jones and relinquish the Captaincy. Max to Captain in his own right!

Put the B&F voting in perspective.  If he had that season in 2018 he would have finished 13th one vote in front of ANB.  About where his season was imo.

I hope he bulks back up to return to the scary beast that he can be, ala 2018 when fit as per photo, as opposed to the skinny easily tackled runs out of energy version of 2019.

Needs to start eating properly again. Feel like he hasn’t played to his potential since we heard about the ‘fasting’ he does.

Would also like to see him used purely as a tagger which would create a bit more variety in our centre square make-up. We’re a bit vanilla in there at the moment and a different approach from just one of the very similar type/style players would be worth looking at.

He’s not super slow at all. Albeit I feel he lost a bit of pace this year like most of our team.

Not sure there are (or have been) too many specialist taggers that have ever been super quick. If they were they wouldn’t be taggers.

Cameron Ling was a great tagger – not quick – as one example.

Don't rate him or his leadership skills. Would rather trade.

Was our arguably our most important player in last year's two finals wins. That was after how many weeks out?

He is a proven performer with a pre-season under his belt. It's all he needs. Is a limited player, but his one wood at its best is almost unmatched.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
