Just heard him tee off at the team and Coaches on SEN

Agreed with all of it, as did a few callers

The Podcast will be up soon no doubt

Goodwin is not safe,  nor should he be

Edited by Demonland
Added audio of King's Appearance on Whateley

Should have started after the Adelaide loss. All pointless now. But this week's game was arguably our worst on a skills front for the season so unsurprisingly the heat has risen now. Looking forward to listening.

Gee it must be hard being a footy special comments guys. a team is terrible - let me explain how terrible they are.  genius

all his predictions like Dons top 4 last year etc don't turn out but he can state the obvious

I just got out of Denial, check the other thread!  ?

just saying it is obvious we are a terrible team playing terrible footy

Why do people always attack a commentator when they point out how bad we are? MFC have been extremely lucky so far in how they've avoided their right whack from the media. Only Ox and Lyon have noticed so far, but now, finally, the focus is on us (at least a bit anyway).

Robbo has also described us as a 'basket case' in his regular post-round write up.

It's not a commentators job to find the answers, it's our coaches.

Yes i know.

But there were 3 Coaches jobs already ended this year. That is the only reason Goodwin has been spared so far.

He was lucky Bolton was still hanging on when we played Carlscum, we wouldn’t beat them now.

The Media Torch has moved. Goodwwin will get this Summer to get his shiit together.

You can see in the Goodwin presser and the message to members he is devoid of ideas and at a loss to explain the performance as the "injuries" we are building a game style etc excuses and talking points don't wash any longer!

Bolton was sacked in June, we played Carlton in July.

Kingy was a big supporter of Melbourne last season and before the commencement of this season, it’s a shame to lose the support of an outsider. Our membership will take a huge hit next season.

My mistake about Bolton. Sentiment remains.

Yep King was a huge Supporter for a long time. No more....

Lucky?  it would have been better to have the blowtorch back in round 5

was not attacking him, just pointing out they have a very easy/high paying job

Dub. There were 3 jobs on the line early in the year. They have now been sorted

Goodwin is now “on”

The players remain the same but have no confidence and the team structures haven't held up at all.

We get scored on the same way every week, 666 has been a death knell to set up, teams getting over the back, lack of pressure and so on is clearly coaching!

Skill execution is a player problem but in part come back to player development.

Don't really think it's an 'easy' job at all. Whether you agree with him or not, he's one of the best for actually doing a stack of research into his analysis. If it was a 'very easy/high paying job' wouldn't we all be raking it in with every post on Demonland?

I agree we should have had the blowtorch a long time ago, and if we weren't such an irrelevant club we might have.

Goodwin is lost, Jennings is lost, the players look lost, the Leaders are not leading, the club is sick and has been all year.

Players in the press basically admitting no one has any idea whats going wrong, Max saying they are a long way from a  basic AFL team, Lever saying they fundamentals are not there.. its just bloody embarrassing, it really is, its a total unmitigated disaster and no one can arrest it.

First one to really put the heat on Goodwin.

"This one sits in the coaches box."

Can't see it turning around this season. That gives Goodwin 6-8 weeks in 2020.

Yep. The comments by Max tell the story

i have never heard a player talk like that

Agree with everything David said. The marketing campaign starting this week with the "Big 3" may be a disaster as why would anyone come and watch us play the way we did Saturday night. 3 game membership who would bother.

I have asked the club not to send me their Monday morning email with Goodwin's message. The problem has been there all year and nothing the club has done has fixed it. This is a massive fail both at player level and coaching level.

They deserved King's boot in my opinion.

It is obvious, what is wrong..   Skills and Connectivity = 13 goals scored via turnovers.

Fixable ......Yes , by getting ball out before opposition line up

When....... Soon Hopefully

Solutions : OMac to CHF Pretty to CHB, Clarrie to Outside MId:  Gus, Harmesy in MId, JV to Small Fwd

This is an outcome of something being wrong within the club. Are the players rebelling? Is the game plan overly confusing?

During pre-match warm up?

I agree King is one of the better ones but surely you can see he gets the job based on being a former AFL player and then just needs to comment on tactics/stats and occasionally making an outlandish comment to make headlines.  doing some research when this is your job is not much to ask. Us fans on DL obviously dont get paid even though a reckon a few of us know just as much about footy than Kingy if not more (not including myself here)

a dream job if you ask me

Look you can pick it apart as much as you like. Yes we have been s*@^ all season, we know, have been putting up with it, not just this year, for many years.

If this c&#(@ is there in 2020 (HELL I HOPE NOT) then we should move people on, but for now please have faith, that next year we have a full fit list of players who when they put on our jumper and run out for their first match of the season in 2020, they bleed red and blue.

The coaches need to know they are on notice, improve or don't let the door hit you on the way out.

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?
