I make positive, negative and neutral comments based on things as I perceive them. I also come up with creative ideas and left-field suggestions, ALWAYS with the motivation to see this club get better and succeed.

We live in unprecedented times. Between the 24/7 commentary, the myriad of “Experts” on tv all vying for the most interesting comment and the negative culture of social media it’s any wonder these young men have issues. There is no indication he is a sensitive soul. He simply made a few honest comments about the pressure he’s been under. 

Couldnt be happier he resigned. He’ll retire a club champion if he wants to, he has all the right tools as a key forward.

10 or so years ago I clearly recall a young Jack Watts stating in an interview that 'winning wasn't the be all and end all' for him or words to that effect. A huge red flag moment that one eyed supporters dismissed out of hand at the time. "You're reading too much into it. It means nothing", they said.

Smokey if i recall from previous posts of yours am i right in saying you are younger fella (by that i mean younger than most of the middle age men like myself who post here)? 

The reason i ask is that it seems to be there has been a positive shift with young men who are more comfortable expressing how they actually feel and not hiding behind the faux stoicism that my generation uses as some sort of distorted template on how a man should act publicly.

Do you think my sense of that shift is accurate?

I for one thing think it is brilliant that Sam is confident enough in his own sense of self that he can be open about his vulnerabilities. I have near adult son and my hope for him is that he can articulate his what is going on for him and not feel the need to hide it behind a wall of machismo.

But not confident enough - at least at this stage - to prevent those vulnerabilities from affecting his on field performance.

Brilliant for Sam the private individual, not so brilliant perhaps for the MFC forward line.

WTF has this got to do with Eddie Maguire? Weidemann is a Melbourne player who has struggled with self confidence this season. Give the young man credit for his honesty and his determination to stay with the club he loves. He WILL get over this, he is a quality human being with great football ability.

Eddie wanted him at Collingwood. Never questioned anything to do with Weideman or his ability.
