I can sort of cop the Harmes 50s, but only if the one for kicking the ball away is paid the other way. And also not long after that a Hawthorn player gave the ball back to clearly the wrong player after a free to slow it down, which was being paid consistently a year or two back.

Seems like they have loosened up on a lot of those rules, which makes the Harmes 50s harder to take.

Not that my personal opinion counts for anything... I have conceded that when Lever, May and Jetta are fit (and even if Jetta is not fit)...he has a short AFL career ahead of him.... ?

Interesting perspective, I see as Harmes running away on a slight diagonal, O Mac’s  shuffle to the right making it look less of a diagonal.

Real funny game, I'd say most of our players were good without being great. No one was fantastic for all 4 quarters but most had some really good moments. Good spread of goal kickers as well, seemed much more like last year

Sat behind the bench, Oliver tried to get back on for last 5mins and couldn’t. Ordinary. I think they wanted Melksham off but couldn’t get him. Got to fix that.

I'm surprised at Hunt's capacity in the forward line - he has elements of toughness and does not shirk the contest, yet I feel lacks presence....but perhaps that is just hype from media for others and not our own.

I loved the lead where he scored a goal...that felt like early 1990's stuff... am I right in that since he has moved there, he is good for 2 goals or so a game?

I thought Hunt was very good today and is doing a good job of reinventing himself

In that highlights video, there are a couple of Petracca 'bookends' that I found interesting, especially considering he had mostly a quiet day - not a game that will have his doubters going quiet, that is for sure.

Early on, at about the 35 second mark, there's a moment where you can see that he has worked out what is going to happen next and just runs to the right spot and collects the easy intercept which sets up Brayshaw's goal. That is the kind of awareness that makes him sometimes look like a star could appear any day now.

Right at the end (start playing from 18:20, right after Frost's huge double-effort) there was a string of contests on that half back flank where twice in rapid succession Petracca's body strength made the difference, particular that second shoulder-to-shoulder hit close to the ground. He then got up and acted super-quickly.

Reminds me of a feeling I got in the final third of last season. Whenever the commentators were losing their proverbial minds and the commentary was in that kind of over-agitated 'this, now this, and this and oh my now this and it is all happening'... that was when we were playing well.

When the game is not calm, when there is madness on the field for everyone, it seems like we are usually the ones coming out ahead.

But when the game is more or less 'calmer', we are getting cut up. A series of effective kicks... mark.. kick.. just doesn't bring out that kind of frantic mood.

It is definitely true for Petracca, he is a much better player when the mood is wild. I think it is also very true for the team as a whole.

Omac was easily our best defender for the first 3 quarters, Frost was fumbly and got lost early but played a great last 15 mins, while hore was ordinary early but came back well in the second half. Why Lewis tried to kick it to him in amongst 4 Hawks when there were free men in the same kicking range is beyond me. One thing we need to start doing is kicking the ball quicker, some passes we're so slow and easy to pick off

His last quarter was disgusting. He nearly lost us the game when it was all on the line. He did not attack the ball and that is inexcusable. I was a fan but after what i saw today Frost is miles ahead of him

Fair overreaction, 1 player would not have cost us the game. By half time I was ready to rule a line through Frost forever, his game sense was just terrible, then he pulled out the last quarter and he started to look like a footballer.

Watch the Jones goal from the Geelong final last year, Petracca won the loose ball and evaded and dished off to Jones

He's cat-like on the ground, love his presence in the forward 50 contests when the ball is up for grabs

His good moments seem to be when he doesn't have time to over think in. When he's acting on instinct, or needs to think quickly, he looks a million bucks.
