Did he ever get physically checked-out by our medical team, prior to recruitment? If not, absolutely irresponsible on our part. We need a reliable forward so that Tom McD can play back - or find another Danny Hughes. There must be one somewhere in the bush or provincial leagues?

    Another Anthony Ingerson would be even better!

    A footy pal was talking about Frosty: If he looks to our seasoned eyes - as experienced spectators at MFC games - that he is running like a chook with its head cut off, as we interpret or take a guess on his progress and directional changes along the way before disposal of the ball, just imagine what guesswork must be applied by opposition players; they wouldn't have a clue!

    A bigger concern is whether our players have a clue as to what Frosty is doing. It would be hard to know where to position yourself if you don't know what the player with ball is going to do with it.

    Set routines - and several of these - are not hard to practice and achieve.

    Correct. If shows how low our expectations of a defender have become that we accept rolling with guy like Frosty who, although quick and agile, has zero composure, fumbles and can’t hit the side of a barn door. 

    EVERY player in your back six needs half decent skills, not just two or three of them. Fumbles and turnovers = goals against = losses.

    You are meant to position yourself before your team mate passes it and in our case there is no one in position when he gets the ball.

    Therefore he looks like a headless chook, trying to work out what he is going to do with it.

    I think he has been one our few good players this season.

    Disagree with the barn door bit, as he actually passes pretty well. Better than most of his team mates, who couldn't hit a wall if they were locked in a small room.

    I think I may have been misunderstood. I'm not saying our players don't know what Frosty is doing, that he isn't following team rules or that he's not playing well. All I was saying was that in a hypothetical situation IF our players didn't know what he was doing it would be a problem.

    When (if ever) we get our best defensive 6 on the park, Frosty should go forward as a defensive running and contest player to stop the switch and slingshot

    Good call. Capable of providing serious frontal pressure where skills aren’t necessarily first priority. Or ... with his fitness base possibly train him up for shut down roles on the big bodied oppo midfielders like Cripps and Bontempelli. His weaknesses outweigh his strengths in defence.

    You've got to be kidding...

    Frosty's biggest weaknesses is he's not a natural footballer.

    Good athlete when he gets to use that strength but the midfield is not the place for it.

    Smart footballers play him on a break.

    Cripps & Bont are smart footballers.

    People underestimate the value of a good run-with/shut-down player. Even the likes of Cripps and Bont can be curtailed with an opponent on their ginger for four quarters. Takes a particular type of player though. Frost would be a left field choice sure but he has the tank and closing speed to worry any direct opponent on the ground. Nothing ventured nothing gained and his career in defence fizzles out ignominiously.

    It was good to see Goodwin at least starting to think along these lines on the weekend by sending Hibberd to Dusty. Can’t allow these stars to have free run at it anymore.

    If Frost ran through the midfield on a Cripps or Fyfe they’d have 60 & kick 6. The answer to the original question is Frost is delisted at seasons end. He’s not up to it in defence or forward and certainly isn’t a midfielder . As soon as Lever & May are fit it’s OMac & potentially Petty playing for th 3rd tall if required

    Sheedy in his coaching prime would’ve tried it. 

    Agree on Frost as a defender though. He and Oscar just marking time back there.

    A star backman, a crafty forward, a raging bull and a great athlete who played great in JLT.  Sadly it will be too late to turn around our season by then though.

      A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

      The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder.       What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around.It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
