I'm currently in the middle of listening to and thoroughly enjoying some Essential Leonard Cohen..Should I stop or is this the same as his Bluey speech?

I’ll speak to Steve Smith about it the next time we have lunch?!

He's changed his tune a little on priority picks. He didn't come out and dismiss the idea entirely for Carlton and GWS but he was a lot more circumspect than he was in 2014 when we were applying for one.

However, the man rarely wastes a word. He blasphemes a bit but he is the ultimate straight shooter.

I had a slight chuckle to myself when the Gaz Man was talking about the state the club was in when PJ arrived in the sense that most of that damage was caused by the whole Hollywood Boulevard set.

Really interesting stuff.  PJs view on who the most important people in a club are in order:

1. CEO and President/board who supports the CEO.

2. List management.

3. List management.

4. List management.

5. Coach

I'm sure Clarko, the Scott brothers, and a few others would have that list reversed.....

"EXTRA! EXTRA!!! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!! CEO views self as most important person in organisation."

He is impressive due to his clear thinking, simplicity of thought and spoken word, his honesty and his common sense.

He is also humble but confident in achieving outcomes.

He makes it seem so simple even when its not, that is his gift.

Peter Jackson  you are my hero and always be indebted to you for helping the club l love out of some very dark years. The club is finally starting to look like  it belongs and respected. Yes we are the Demons and you are one for life.

Words can’t express it anymore. He will be very hard to replace and we are just going to have to wait and see how Pert goes. To be fair it was always going to be big shoes to fill for anyone but still.

We’ll miss him, the ultimate professional.

If you haven't got to So Long Marianne yet keep listening.

Can't work out if this is fan-boy or cryptic. ?

According to my greatest hits Leonard Cohen CD, So Long Marianne is followed by Sisters of Mercy and Famous Blue Raincoat. Brock is a famous Blue turn-coat, I assume Marianne is Jess Hogan, but who these sisters might be has me beat? But apparently Everybody Knows?

Jacko has taken Melbourne, now we'll take Manhattan and Berlin.

PJ was the CEO we needed when he came in. Perty is the CEO we need now going forward.  No CEO is more experienced at Facilities and Membership growth and best practice. HIs experience for these next steps is way superior to PJ's which is not to detract from anything PJ has achieved.

Jackson did a wonderful job in turning the club around. He, Paul Roos and Glenn Bartlett deserve a hell of a lot of credit. PJ was the catalyst for our turnaround in my opinion. We weren’t an AFL standard club by any tangible measure when he walked through the door.

Here's hoping mate. The guy has some excellent credentials, hopefully we can grow the club but not forget the foundations that were put in place.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
