Do some research and understand the basics of how the draft and trade period works Einstein. We don't get an opportunity to match the offer if he goes into the draft and he's not a free agent. Fact

I was wrong thank you. I was thinking of his RFA status.

PS:- When you make a mistake man up.

A few thoughts, I think Mahoney coming out and saying we can't land May without moving on Jesse could be a driving factor in Freo's offer also, I reckon Josh would like to take those words back however Freo are just about proving themselves as not worth dealing with by any club, their negotiation process and hard stance from the outside looks like total disorganisation. They could have sent Neale on his way and landed both Hogan and Lobb by now and focused on bringing in more trades, this from a club that nobody has wanted to go for years and they have 2 who do want to now (yes Jesse has told them he wants to play for them).

Seems like West Coast may still be interested and I hope Gold Coast come knocking with their picks also, Jesse could be a marquee player for them for 10 years and the AFL will pay his salary or help out at least. Work out a deal with May, KK maybe Jack Martin or some decent player (KPF depth)and get it done.

I do think Jesse will end up at Freo at this stage, but they'd want to get cracking. What a basketcase of a club, basically holding up many other clubs doing deals while they're at it too. The way they've conducted themselves this trade period is an embarrassment and I would be [censored] off if I was a member.

Anyway, I think it was a pretty slimy move from Freo trading their pick 6, trying to make us fold, but buckle up, the more clubs come knocking the better now and it'll all come back to bite them. What a beautiful article/clip from 9 Perth last night haha.

But, the fact Jesse has said he wants to go to Freo, I don't want him next year now, before that I wasn't phased either way, so long as we get what we ask, which is 2 first rounders or similar.

Hey SF, has Jesse come out and said he wants to go to Freo or is that being (understandably) implied from his conduct ie touring facilities etc... Apologies if it has been posted earlier as it becomes close to a full time job keeping up with this thread lol.

They said on TR this morning he had told Freo he wants to play for them, maybe Mitch Cleary?

Hang on. Wait a minute.

Freo are demanding pick 5 and another late first round pick for Neale and won't budge.

Yet they've offered us pick 11 and a second rounder for Jesse?

Right so they're just making jokes, I get it now.

Haha good one Freo.

Some gent keeps pestering SEN asking Gary to read out his sms. He is adamant the other club is Sydney. Is this some who reads or contributes to Demonland? C'mon fess up if you are bombarding SEN

Freo offering a future second is also an insult, assuming they'll move up a little with natural progression

He is RFA next year and we can match an offer. If he goes into the draft they have to use their first pick, that would probably need to be pick 1. I am pleased that you are learning the meaning of the word fact, although you still have not fully understood how it applies to your own posts. I think working social mores may be beyond you at this stage but don't give up.

Hogan is not a free agent of any kind next year, he's just a dude without a contract.

As has been explained on this thread about once every 7 pages.

Thanks. Like the cheating girlfriend - his actions have implied he wants to leave us and is probably obvious to the outside world but when the words come out (if true) it still hurts.

He wouldn't have done a medical if he didn't want to go there.

I’d love for Sydney to swoop in and stuff Freo. The lulz would be epic. Couldn’t get Clark done and now they stuff Hogan deal.

I'd love GC to come into the picture; more scope for a fair deal.

Hogan allegedly telling Freo he wants to go there would make sense as to why Freo think they hold some power in negiotiations.

Nah but Hogan is a free agent next year...

No one wants to play for GC though.

It's more of a 'girlfriend doesnt want to commit to marriage, therefore i'll let her see some other guys for a few weeks and then decide on marriage with me or breaking up ' type of arrangement ?

Mick Warner "In the end, Fremantle will give up pick 5 for Jesse Hogan. They will play hardball, but will relent around 7pm next Wednesday night."

Nailed it! Love it (the post) not the situation ?

We find ourselves with no first round draft pick this year in what is meant to be a good at the risk we took when we traded future drafts..............SO I’m not against trading Jesse Hogan for the right price BUT let’s not give him away !!

Hes worth two first round draft picks and low ones at that........trade him next year or the year after BUT don’t give him away

Pick 5 and .... who knows with Freo. Maybe just pick 5 but they will probably on trade that as well to Adel.

Trade Radio. "May just waiting for the deal to happen now, wants to be at MFC. Shopping for houses in Melbourne"

I know it's probably well known, but it's nice to hear it spoken of as just about a done deal, and not that he will re-sign with GCS if the offer isn't good enough from us.

Well just logged on, has Freo given away all their picks yet? Or a we still a chance with May?

You’re sooooo far behind. Hogan to GC for May, KK and pick 3.

Had a similar thought.

Whilst none of us appreciate their shenanigans Freo, in their own fashion are just shopping with what they have( and will have ) . From their standpoint they're trying to maximize their bang for buck. Good for them. That's beholden upon them to do so for that club.

It's actually up to us and others to negotiate better deals. No one gets a free ride. This is pure market forces at work.

Trading ain't finished yet.

Have some faith people.

You can't shop with no money and a dodgy credit card like these idiots are trying to do

Why not do your trades get your credit then spend it on Hogan What was the rush to declare interest in a player you cannot afford?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?
Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG. Unfortunately, performances like these went against the grain of what Melbourne has been producing from virtually midway through 2024 and extending right through to the present day. This is a game between two clubs who have faltered over the past couple of years because their disposal efficiency is appalling. Neither of them can hit the side of a barn door but history tells us that every once in a while such teams have their lucky days or come up against an opponent in even worse shape and hence, one of them will come up trumps in this match.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
