The guys of Fox Footy are saying that everything is being held up by the Neale trade. Freo wanting an extra 1st rounder in the teens as well as pick 5 from Brisbane.

Lobbe for that teens pick then pick up Jesse with the two lower picks.

Don't like the tone of the article for starters.

It's a stretch to call that an 'article'. A blogger who saw the same 6 seconds of Channel 7 as we have.

Not putting a lot of cred in someone who writes "The Jesse Hogan trade was the dam wall for this trade period, with picks exchanged in that trade being used for Brisbane’s pursuit of Lachie Neale and Melbourne’s Steven May chase"

Let’s be clear. Jesse didn’t do a medical test while at dockers HQ because he’s still not allowed to run. He may have had additional scans done. But I think this is all BS

This is like a bloody season of game of thrones.

What a mess. Nobody knows anything, but the media are ready to jump at the slightest whiff of news. Getting sick of it, tbh. Just want an answer one way or the other.

On the medical... didn't his Navi flare up 3 weeks before the end of H&A season? Of course he failed the medical...

The dockers chatted to Melbourne about a potential trade on Monday. Surely if they were out they would have said so then... it’s shady.

At least you are consistent, but you are wildly overstating our power here.

Regardless of the posts above from Wrecker, by saying nothing about staying, Jesse is clearly implying he wants to go.

If we can't do a deal, and he refuses to sign long term, we have a massive distraction contract-wise next year right when we don't need one, along with a player who clearly won't want to be there next year, and who already exhibits poor body language when things go his way.

This is exactly why Gold Coast want to get rid of May. It isn't worth the hassle.

Even if Wrecker is right, a player who is torn is going to have a really hard time properly committing, if Freo refuse to give us a fair deal.

He really has to go now, and we really have to take what we can get, all posturing aside.

No, we don’t have to “take what we can get at” at all. Jeepers, talk about going all jelly-kneed just as negotiations are hotting up. Patience grasshopper.

A similar scenario played out with Bryce Gibbs at Carlton two years ago. They could not agree on trade terms with Adelaide so the player stayed another season. And guess what? He came out and won the Blues best and fairest!

Following year Carlton extracted their two first round picks off Adelaide for him.

These are professional footballers and there’s always going to be a media circus surrounding a number of players every year. If Hogan goes it’ll be someone else they focus on. Nature of the beast.

If Hogan stays another year and helps us win a premiership I couldn’t give a stuff what dolts like Sam McClure want to say and write. Who cares!

That said I still think we will reach an agreement with Freo on Hogan. 95% of these deals go through. However if it doesn’t, so be it.

Nah. I think they keep all options open. It's just due diligence. What if suddenly the Neale trade is accepted and goes through. The trade period remaining gives plenty of time for them to look at their draft capital and reconsider their position. You don't just get up off that table in a huff. You wait it out just in case one of your opponents flinches.

Like it or not a lot of water has under the bridge since that interview. I'm not saying Goodwin wasn't truthful in that interview but since that time the door has been opened ever so slightly. I feel like the talk that came about in the media following Weid's great game vs the Cats and missing out on playing finals may well have created doubts/thoughts in his head which has lead us to this point. As for the club, I would be very interested to know what has gone on internally with discussions with him, clearly it hasn't been the straight down the line "you're a required player and we don't want to entertain a trade".

Now that the club's stance has softened along with whatever is going on in Jesse's brain, it is very much a possibility until I hear it's been completely quashed by the club.

That is ridiculous. For all we know JH has made his position clear and the delays which are causing us to head to the magic 300 (having passed the miraculous 200) have nothing to do with him.

It could all be resolved with an interruptive, real-time announcement by Hogan combined with a slip-knot release from the influence of his current 'manager'.

He has done some kind of medical with Fremantle. I know that for certain.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
