is he fast? no

is he a good kick? no

does he apply defensive pressure? no

is he a good mark? he's ok but wrestles too much.

i would be all up for trading him.

for those that say he is a good field kick are deluded. his ball drop is hard to watch.

Only one  person is deluded on here.

watch pedo's pass to him in the last, leading to the speccie on his head. If you think Hogan is the problem, you're wrong.

Isn't that Petracca that is left handed? Even bounces the ball left handed. Not sure about Hogan though.

I can confirm Hoges is left handed. I asked him as he continually shot left handed at one of the MFC holiday programs at MSAC where he and Trac were shooting hoops. Both would not be out of place on a basketball court.

Just interviewed on Talking Footy. Very nervous, not a great speaker. Was asked about staying long term at the Dees. Gave the well rehearsed, straight bat response.

He's Gawn!

Also said his injury only happened against the swans and was just a niggle. Also on On The Couch, they showed footage of Jesses poor positioning and leading patterns, just goes to show it isn’t just the midfields fault, he’s not positioning himself anywhere near where he should be. Jonathon Brown called him out and said he was part of the blame.

He has kicked 42 of his goals this year against the bottom 10 sides? Barely averaging a goal a game against the top sides.

Well Jonathon Brown showed that footage amongst several others on On The Couch as another example of Jesse Hogan being terribly out of position.

Dockers would give us 1st rounder 2018, 2  nd rounder 2019 and a player. Worth a look

These last two rounds Hogan has to stand up and be counted, right now he's the epitome of a Melbourne player. A rock star vs lower teams, goes to water against the good teams.

How do you listen to a post? Hehe.

He holds the ball in a way to suit his left boot, kind of; but his run up, as silly as it looks, is for his right boot

... his current method does not work closer to goal.

Why does everyone pick on @DV8, he's just having his say, take it or leave it lol

Its because I challenge the status quo...  and because of this;  I think outside the status-quo box,,,  so then I have different thoughts/ideas, to those conservatives caught up within that box.    'They', just do more of the same,,, each time.  coming up with the same results time after time_]

I challenge them _  from the words of the song to the mental theme of the club and supporters.    from the culture,,,  to the vibe/noise in the stands on game-day.

I am getting results...  back at the expense of my own well-being.

No, msf, its confidence related...  but the problem remains... our midfield needs better mids, who use the ball smarter.

We still have to somehow,,, get those players onto our list.   it's imperative we do, because we are crucifying our tall forwards, and the smalls as well to a lesser extent.

Hogan is out of position for his skills.

yes it is Drts.

We have too many of the same types, in relation to our needs;  as forwards and as mids.

No MSF, I don't watch fox.

But my point is nothing to do with Hogan's ability.   We have too many players for his position, compared to elite mids we don't have.

He is not suited close to goal, with the way we bring the ball in.

Weideman is better with the high ball than Jesse.

Jesse would be better playing Petracca's role, than playing deep.  half-foward/mid.

The whole gist of my points are to trade, to get elite mids into the club.  We have to give something, to get something.

Hogan will be a star somewhere.

No point having star forwards, if they can't get the ball in the first place.  This is our dilemma.

How do we have too many players for his position though? We have Weed who isn't up to it yet, Smith who is a bit parter and Pedo who is 32 next year. Don't see too many others fighting for his position long term?

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
