Williamstown’s Jaylon Thorpe narrowly missed a shot at goal from 30 metres out to deny his team a place in next week’s VFL Grand Final. The one-point win to the Box Hill Hawks put them in the season decider against the Casey Demons.

The Hawks get Schoenmakers, Mirra, Worpel & Nash back next week but will lose noone from todays game against Willy, all are eligble for finals.

They will take 2 emergencies to Perth, but they'll fly back Saturday afternoon to be able to play in this game. King won't play (hasn't played all finals series and it seems his time is up) and there's a good chance McKenna will get up, so 12 listed.

Last time we played the Hawks we had 8 listed vs their 20 listed and held strong until half-time when they ran away in the second, so even with a few Hawks players back we are in a better state then last time we played them. It's gonna be a tough game but definitely winnable.

Mate you and your bro stick fat love ya

Reported on Twitter - “Casey Demon Dion Johnstone to contest the striking charge laid by the AFL Vic MRP yesterday. He was offered one week, putting him out of the VFL grand final, but he’ll fight it at the tribunal tomorrow night.”

I would be fairly confident of beating the box hill side that played last sunday but they are pretty good inclusions for a VFL side. I will still go and cheer them on though . There arn't too many of us living in casey.

The VFL tribunal has tonight found Casey Demon Dion Johnstone guilty, resulting in a 2 week suspension for a striking charge, ruling him out of the 2018 Grand Final.

F***

Poor Dion. I know it was a stupid act but I don’t think he actually meant to hit him in the chin. I wonder who will take his spot.

Yes. The Casey Demons have named Pat McKenna  and the unfortunate Bayley Fritsch in the 18 for Sunday’s Grand Final against the Box Hill Hawks who have added David Mirra, Conor Nash and James Worpel to their squad.

Yes, no Schoenmakers. I was worried he was gonna drop back and give Keilty a real problem. Expecting the Casey defence to be really dominate now.

The big dance is here and I'm expecting a comfortable 20 point win to the dees .

Good to see McKenna back Fritsch is a huge in.

Vince to get BOG and replace Smith for the Grand Final when we hopefully make it.

IC: Collis, Lefau, Stockdale and White

That accidental smiley face next to Fritschs name is quite unfortunate.

Was intending to go but I will have to get out of this foul mood I am in at the moment. I believe a casey win will do wonders for the club. After todays poor showing the club needs to take something out of the season. A flag for the seconds would be a nice resolve.

Time to bump this up.

Yeah I know it would have been great to watch on a big roll etc etc but these guys have done a lot for the club and deserve our support tomorrow.

See you then

A bit soon, I know, but does anyone know if MFC members get in free to the GF tomorrow?

Going tomorrow expecting we will get smashed but hoping for a win.

no... the finals were $15 a head.

Not sure about the price of the GF.

Pity it's at Docklands... zero atmosphere

We’re all gutted by the loss today but get right behind Casey tomorrow. They’ve had a great year and deserve our support. Make it loud and sing it’s a grand old flag proud!

General admittance is $23. MFC membership does not get you in.

A bit soon , I know, but that's probably one of the hardest questions the MFC has been asked this year !

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
