If you remember he's only played 1 game last year and had some knee problems so it is a risk to get someone who may not lineup for the team, maybe GWS has some medical knowledge that he was going to play restricted games due to the problems

Will be fascinating to see how the Hawks get Wingard and Scully.  Still after that Hannebury trade I'll believe anything!

Contrast the way that the Geelong supporters handled Ablett's departure, versus the way our supporters handle Scully's departure.

During his time here, we were a rabble.  Senior players and staff used to pull Scully down with the "over-training" accusation, rather than seeing that a 19 year old was actually setting decent training standards.

Why would he come back here, playing for supporters that really have half a brain.

Clarko is on the money.  Scully has had his pay-day and will now accept unders.  Clarko is reaping the rewards of trading out dead wood when it should happen; not 3 years after.

Ablett was instrumental in getting the GFC it’s long awaited premiership. Son of a club legend.

Everything you say about Melbourne being a rabble at the time $cully was at the club would be most certainly true. Also his standards for training would be the same however....

A lot of us on this site are questioning him as a human being not a footballer. Liars are not my favourite kind of people.

As for “supporters that really have half a brain” I would instead say many of them have honesty  and loyalty as a standard in their lives. EG: We love our club.

Yes Clarko is the smartest and the best coach going around, but on this occasion for me, he is welcome to the $culldog.

Hawks very smart, give up Burton and a couple of mid teen first round picks and land Scully / Wingard, draft picks are hit and miss, established players are not.

Back into premiership contention IMO.

Giants happy to accept an early second round....

5&23 for hogan

so for hogan we’d get May, Kolo and Scully potentially. Fills 2 major holes and we are a massive show for the flag.

Not naming sources. But this is a very, very serious chance of happening.

If we get what we want for Hogan I'd say May & Scully will both be at Melbourne next year.

To us?!?

Balls14 doesn't have an extensive posting history but appears to be a normal fan with no history of big noting.

Scully coming back would break these servers forever.

It's a shame it's Scully as he's the exact type of player we need.

I doubt, after the fall out of him leaving all those years ago, that he would want to come back here or feel comfortable doing so.

The Saints are now expressing interest in Voldemort.

If he was upset at the party atmosphere at Melbourne, I wonder if he has heard of a little thing called the Saints Disco?

yeah but within a week we'd be killing the fattened calf and telling the story of the return of the prodigal son.

Memories are short whatever people like to think

The Giants must be in serious Cap trouble if they have to unload Scully for a "relatively late pick" with Shiel leaving as well. Happy that the throwing around of money has bit them on the bum.

Not a chance he is coming back.

Agree that he is exactly what we need and we in turn fit what he is looking for in a team within the premiership window but there is just too much bad blood. This is not even remotely like Ablett returning to Geelong.

'Satisfied' with his medical suggests that he may take some time to get back to full fitness.  I can't see GWS off loading Scully, who is apparently only on 500k next year, for peanuts if they don't believe there is a potentially serious issue with his ankle.

All this does is give them the ability to keep Kelly and Weitfield which is bad for us.

Scully [censored] us again!

All I will say at this stage is what I was told yesterday morning:

1. Scully was also told the same thing as Dylan Shiel. Scully didnt take kindly to this. GWS still need to clear cap space.

2. Scully's put the feelers out. We were keen.

3. This was discussed by people within the club yesterday with little resistance. Only one person with in management was dead set against the idea.

4. Three way trade involving Fremantle, GWS & Melbourne had preliminary discussions after the initial Fremantle offer for Hogan was declined. Lobb, Scully, Hogan and a flurry of picks have been discussed. Melbourne are trying to get their hands on 5 (which is public knowledge) to get May done and GWS are looking to find a suitable deal to clear Scully off their books.

5. Hawthorn have been deep into Scully for two weeks now and have had discussions with Hawthorn about a trade. GWS dont think Hawthorn have the currency to suffice them.

no doubt that they had identified the last two years for premierships and that next year was a bonus.

and of course Lobb is going as well... that's $2M to $2.5M and no one coming in of note

What currency do we have that Hawthorn don't. We're pick paupers at the moment.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
