Not sure how a side that beats the 2nd place side in Perth only has one player in the weekly best 22?

Kane Cornes is a complete nuffie.

The following players were very stiff: Brayshaw, Melksham, Gawn & to an extent Oliver.

I thought his teams started off the year okay, but it increasingly looks as though he is only watching 2-3 games a week.

Original poster, why don't you actually say who would come out of the team of the week. I seriously hate it when people go 'oh why wasn't Joe Blogs in the AA team' and then not even mention who they would replace. Simpletons

Some baffling selections, 2 Saints players and Waite from North was ‘important’ in their late failed comeback.

Gunston in the backline when he spent most of the game up forward. Tracking well Cornesy.

Underlines what a strong team effort it was last Sunday. That said, Gawn was a bit stiff to miss out.

Obviously Cornes did not watch the game. Melksham had to be in the Team of the Week.

Same with the Chris Judd comments about Melbourne "over celebrating" this is simply people doing things that will rile Melbourne supporters to get more clicks.

Note that Judd and Cornes are both connected to Mr Clickbait himself, Craig Hutchinson.

Has to be the case. If anyone is stiff to miss the Milkshake definately is. How does Waite get in ahead of him?

Ok well my first would be Gawn in for Grundy.

Next would be Waite off the bench and Melksham on.

Then I'd remove Taylor Adams and put on Brayshaw.

I didn't watch all of all games on the weekend, but from the 80% I did see, the thought process underpins some of these selections seems awry.  Most notably, they seem to lack a sense of the impact that various players had on their respective games / results.   But who really cares anyway?  What the absence of Melbourne players does demonstrate, is what a fantastic team performance it was to get us the four points.  I'm far more proud of that fact, than I would be if we had 3 or 4 players in this gimmicky 'team'.  I'm sure that our players and Match Committee would feel the same way.

Typo

I was discussing us vs WCE game and we had a very even performance , plyaers who starred for a qtr then quietish qtrs.

Harmes and Max where our best 4 qtr players so no issues with this team

At least Harmes made the bench.

Caddy over Melksham is stupid but possibly done to stir up All Australian debate as selection draws nearer. Caddy is in the frame. Melk isn’t.

Curious to know if you actually watched the Adelaide/North game?  I saw minimal given a lot of it was being played when our game was on.

Also, you can't deny that Grundy didn't have a huge game.  Personally, I thought Grundy's impact was equal to, if not greater than Gawn's impact this week.  Doesn't change my view that Gawn is still the best ruckman in the league.

Tbh I didn't. And I'm not saying Gawn 100% should have been ahead of Grundy, they were just some examples.

My point was more around the context of the games. Adelaide v North was a dead rubber, Melbourne overcame the 2nd best side i the competition at their home game to lock in finals. Waite kicked 3 goals, Melksham 4. Seems like a bit of oversight from Cornes.

Anyway, who really cares we won and that's all that matters.

I definitely think Melksham should have been in and probably Gawn would be a little stiff but Grundy was pretty good after being challenged by Ryder early.

Was a massive team effort from us. I'm not fussed about team of the week this week.

I don’t mind Kane Cornes he no afraid to ask the tough questions.

Melksham was stiff 4 goals & quelling McGoverns influence was a match winning performance.

Max & Grundy were both great, Ryder did kick 3 goals running the other way though??

Max & Grundy should both be AA, they’ve been awesome all year

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
