Everytime I look at the ladder it is an amazing logjam from 3 to 11.

So many permutations are possible.

Anyone done the analysis on intra 3-11 games (8 point games) .. we have 3 of them.

Collingwood have two.

DJ, have a look at this thread for the 8 point games.

I said a couple of weeks a fanatical bulldogs mate of mine reckons they’re tanking for the no.4 draft pick. Certainly looks that way! However they have had a few crucial injuries since the Cats game also

Jones gets two weeks so out for game vs us.

May gets one game so also out for game vs us.

Maybe lady luck is changing our way!

I don't recall seeing the incident.

The incident hasn't been mentioned in the Post Game thread and wonder if the camera crew chose not to show it!

So perhaps he didn't get a free, which would be typical of our luck with umpires!

Anyone notice how bad Buddy Franklin has looked lately?   Either hes carrying an injury or  all that mileage has finally caught up to him. Or both.

Reading the Swans forum and some of the supporters wanted him rested or shut down completely for the season.

Sam Frost will get the job him in Round 21 you'd think.

So the Jack Higgins goal. Incredible quick thinking but was it a throw?

Scenario 1

Imagine I had the ball and was about to be tackled. I threw the ball over the head of the tackler, ran around him and caught the ball before it hit the ground. Legit or not?

Scenario 2

Similarly if I was running towards the boundary and like in cricket grabbed the ball, threw it in the air, ran over the boundary and them back in where I caught the ball before hitting the ground. Legit?

I am very sympathetic to the higgins goal as it was great to see, in front of a big crowd and at a big time in the game.

But the AFL make stuff up as they go and this is no exception. To me it was a bad decision.

Thoughts?

He's totally within his rights to release the ball however he likes... provided he actually kicks it.

If he doesn't .... it's a throw.

The scenarios you describe are throws. No attempt to kick

It's not as complicated as some might think.

No it was not a throw. A throw is where I attempt to get the ball to someone else, or just release the ball under pressure and fail to handball or get a boot to the ball.

I think I can do whatever I like when getting the ball to my own boot!

Ok so If I threw the ball over a tacklers head and kicked it before it hit the ground would that be any different?

No, unless the tackler tackled you. That would be prior opportunity and gawn.

Apparently on the weekend, I think it was Longmire, said Buddy has only trained for 20mins in total for the whole season. So definitely been injured all year

Neither May nor Zac Jones have contested their respective one and two weeks suspensions.  They will not line up against us in the next two weeks.

While it doesn't affect our prospects Cheney accepted his one week suspension for striking Fritsch off the ball.

On another note, Josh Kennedy (WCE) is out again this week and hopes to get back the following week (vs Port).  Let's hope his recovery is slow until after round 22 so he doesn't play against us...

Charlie Curnow has got off on appeal for whacking Stephen May. I can’t recall any player having their punishment upheld on appeal this season. They all seem to get off. Can anyone correct me?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
