Here's the betting for the NAB Cup according to Norm Short Sportsbook. Norm thinks the Swans aren't interested in the competition and we're almost line ball against the Hawks in the first round.

$

5.5 Western Bulldogs

8 Fremantle, Geelong

9 Adelaide, Port Adelaide

10 West Coast, Melbourne

11 St. Kilda

12 Hawthorn

14 Essendon, Kangaroos

17 Enron, Richmond

31 Collingwood

41 Sydney

51 Brisbane

The bookies obviously don't believe in the old adage about being as good as your last game. They were thrashed against the Eagles and now are flag favourites.

Usually an expectation to see a different team winning the NAB Cup. I wouldn't dare post a market for something like this because there's more of a chance the bookies are going to be destroyed by something like Richmond at $17. I think that's worth a little flutter.

Bookies aren't stupid, which explains why sides like Brisbane and Sydney are so far down the odds.

I think that's a fair field. I wouldn't waste even a kopek on the toigs though.

The bookies might not be stupid but surely it's a bit of a stretch having the team that was beaten by one point in last year's grand final at odds of $41.00.

Has Roos stated that he's playing to lose or something?

Not really - but since taking over as coach the Swans have not progressed past the first round since. They didn't win a single pre season match in 05 and had a very lacklustre 06 preseason (including twice losing to fellow preseason slugs Essendon). They play the favourites in the Bulldogs - I'd say save any of your hard earned because it may as well be $141 - the Swans won't even raise a sweat.

I thought the bookies lost more when the favourite gets up.

And if a whole lot of people put a dollar on the Tigers, they won't be at $17 for long. Bookies aren't stupid. ;)

Anyone going to watch the Dees V Hawks on Feb 25th. Hope to see lots of red and blue there. I would rather the real AFL season but will put up with NAB Cup.

ONLY 49days (& weeks ) TO GO. !!!!!

I know that this is slightly off topic, but I read in the HS today, that the AFL will give a bonus of $1,000,000 to the club who can win both the pre-season competition and the Grand-Final. This is on top of the $1,000,000 given to the winning club in September.

We sure could use $2,000,000 and two extra trophies for the cabinet ;)

The dough would be nice but I'm not in it for the money. I'll take the trophies thank you. The money will follow anyway.

What do they give you for winning the pre-season comp these days? A tin-foil plate?

I think the $1,000,000 is looking much better compared to the insignificant trophy. I'm sure Carlton would give theirs back for a refund

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
