SFebes 4,884 Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Starting this thread early as it's shaping for a big weekend ladder wise and for the Dees. Who do we want to win these crunch games Rich v Syd (THURS) - I hope Tigers win, we don't want any interstate teams in the top 4. WB v Cats - Cats are definitely not playing their best this year and Dogs played OK v North and you don't know what they'll bring. A Dogs win hopefully Carl v Port - Carlton played well yesterday and Port aren't as good as people reckon, they actually played awful v Dees and we still found a way to lose. Upset highly unlikely but game is at the MCG. Adel v WCE - Can the Crows at home upset a vulnerable WCE? GC v Coll - Collingwood win easily GWS v Haw - Hoping GWS win, Hawks are zoning in on a top 8 finish Melb v STK - We need to win and win big, keep that percentage up, 50+ win would be nice Ess v North - I think Bombers will win this, North doing their usual start the season well and folding this year I'd say, Ess win helps us. All this is irrelevant if we cant beat the good teams, we need to play finals. Our best last year v good teams is better than this year, I still think our team is unbalanced, need another tall defender to free up the runners and we need a crumbing forward. We have quite a few passengers, especially in the bigger games, stop playing Tmac on a wing and Hogan as a midfielder. If Rich, WB, Carl, Adel, Coll, GWS, Melb, Ess win we will be 5th still with WCE likely team to fall from the 4 over coming weeks. We lose and favourites win we will be 9th after this coming round. v Coll we had a chance to nail 2nd, v Port we shouldve won and top 4. Tough game footy, you have got to turn up from the bounce to the end, or it's all over in a flash. Quote
brendan 3,458 Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 All the roughies to get up apart from the saints would help us a lot Quote
The Chazz 4,077 Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 We need Hawthorn to end GWS' season this weekend. Hawthorn have a far easier run home than most teams, and GWS have a tricky run. If Hawk win this game, it will leave 9 teams playing for 8 spots. If Essendon can defeat North, which I think they have the potential of doing, then that will help plant some doubt in North's mind. We need to give the Saints a touch up, just to get that bit of confidence up, so that we can hopefully keep that momentum up for the next few weeks (we really should be winning out next 5 of our next 6, and to be honest, I'm not waving the white flag for the Cats game - I think we have a very good chance of rolling them). Looking at the rest of the draw, I think most of the top 8 is locked in, just a matter of finalising the order. I do think the most vulnerable to drop out is North, and they will be replaced by Hawthorn. The interesting one for mine is Geelong. Their run over the next 6 games is quite challenging - I can easily see them going 3 wins, 3 losses. Depending on other results in that time, they could find themselves out of the 8 going in to Round 21 when they play Hawthorn at the MCG. Our (Melb vs Geel) game in Round 18 could be crucial for both teams. That said, Geelong have an "easier" last 3 games, finishing with Hawthorn (50/50), Freo and Gold Coast (both at KP). If we can manage to win 5 of the next 6, then pick up another game out of Geelong, West Coast, Sydney or GWS, I think we could hit September in good shape. After that, like the last couple of years, a lot will come down to where finals are being played. 2 Quote

The Cats' next 7 games are; Dogs (ES), Sydney (SCG), Adel (AO), Melb (KP), Bris (KP), Richmond (MCG), Hawthorn (MCG). I think they are locks for the Dogs and Brisbane. The Adelaide game they'd be 80/20. Sydney and Richmond would be favourites in those games. If we could roll them, and Hawthorn and Adelaide manage to get up, they will start relying on results of other games to go their way. That said, they are Geelong, and the bastards seem to find a way to win a game they should lose. But my word would it be amusing if they missed! Quote

SFebes 4,884 Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 Treloar gone for potentially 10 weeks for Pies - Massive loss for them. Quote
What 18,810 Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) Huge round coming up. That will be said every week for the next 9 weeks. Take care of business vs the Saints and we'll be just 1 game behind the loser of Richmond vs Sydney. If Adelaide roll West Coast at home we will be one game behind them too. And the Pies might be in strife without their best player Treloar possibly out for the rest of the season. So much doom and gloom on here when we are well and truly in the frame for not just finals but the top 4. Edited June 25, 2018 by Petraccattack Quote

That's where we are as a footy club, inconsistent, our old players are old and slow and our kids need another 3 years. Unless club injects some mid 25-28 talent it'll be a bumpy ride, as frustrating as it is!!! 1 Quote

I think posters are missing the pies extremely difficult draw. I think they are the team at risk the most. 1 Quote
