The Hun now reporting Langdon is meeting “clubs” in Melbourne and Dees have stated emphatically that they have no in principle agreement with him to come to the Dees. Sam Edmund and Jon Ralph authors of this article and one on 27 Aug saying we’ve got him and there’s an in principle agreement.

So what happened? Who’s making stuff up. Hint. Not the Club.

It'll be either his manager trying to get a few extra $$$ by saying he's looking around or Freo trying to get a higher price. Of course we'll say there's nothing in principle because that's not allowed.

He'll never come if he reads this place.

All good.  The Mods installed a player sensitive crapolla filter long ago to ensure that never happens!

It’s a crazy time. Anything can happen.  Twists and turns. Like Mitch Clark choosing the Dees over Freo as Neelds masterstroke. Omg it’s a crazzzy world.

Seriously need to stop these days off. Find. Myself getting stuck into these forums which isn’t really what I do.

Anyway for what it’s worth - an age reporter is tweeting that’s Ed Langdon has been spotted at Tullamarine facilities

I love the next guys reply; "A Whisper!"

I don't have any inside info about this, but it seems to me he could be trying to drive up his price in terms of $$$

Will be flat if Langon doesn't get to us, but would be so much flatter if he went to the Scum.

Nah, he would be good but that question mark about his kicking ability, we need players that can hit targets forward of centre.  Don't get me wrong I thing he can come to our club and improve us but if he decides to go elsewhere so be it, going to the draft with pick 20-22 isn't a bad option

The ‘compensation’ payments made to players post supplements saga have certainly helped Essendon bring in and retain some very good players. I wouldn’t eliminate them from the race to sign Langdon.

Any player would have second thoughts on coming to MFC after the season we have just had.

Most would I suppose, but some just see it as a job and will chase the $ or somewhere closer to home. I do agree for the most part though, we must look like a rabble.

Remember to go to the toilet before training. Honestly you could not make this stuff up.  A home base remains priority number 1 with a bullet.

That’s a cruel photo. Gysberts had no heart for a contest or hard work.  Scully was the traitor in the pack.  Trenners injury was a curse. Fitz was like a 1970s rockstar.  A big Maxy Gawn was the joker and eventually the CHAMPION in the park.

And Fagan there learning his craft

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
