With Harmes' build and conditioning, it really is just a matter of developing improved pace and agility, he has the tank and the power. He need not be another Davey, by any means  in terms of pace, just faster than he currently happens to be. Mind you, at his current speed status, he ain't too bad as it is, he just needs heightened running adjustments to increase absolute speed.

Agree, he’s also got a nice fend-off that’s very Dustin Martin. But ANB is also of high endurance as we’ve seen this week, so maybe both could be developed for this role? Personally, I’ve really enjoyed the Dees speed and ability to cut teams apart  ‘through the middle’ this year. So, I’m not so sold on the need for an outside wing role ?

Fairy Nuff. It could be seen as excessive to continuously think we need 'outside wing'. I'd prefer Harmes and ANB just to develop slight increases in pace with all of their skills sets and executions thereof; through the middle has a nice efficiency that may lead to a less predictable yet multiple 'coming to meet the ball' spreads and options into deep forward locations, where the real guns are stored as an armoury. This centreline violation will also involve Clarrie and Jones (the latter whose game has elevated by the more frequent omission of the 'long bomb' for yardage, alone). Also agree that Harmes is developing a very good fend off in a similar vein to that of the Dusted One. With more execution, it could be another ripper, adding to our brick wall of protection with forward 50 entries.

I'm just guessing Red, according to figures bandied about Re AFL players.  IMO some are paid far too highly. see danger.

Near $800,000.00 over 5years, is a lot of moola.

I am a leftist you know, so I don't believe in the few, taking the most.

A football player is paid more - twice as much - as a CE of a NSW Local Health District with 7000+ employees, multi-multi hundred million dollar budget providing health services to a million people. Mind boggles.

Ignoring for a moment the supply and demand issue which impacts on earnings, don't forget your CE, depending on age when reaching that job, could work at it for many years.  With very few exceptions, a professional footballer's career will be over in their early 30s. And once they're retired, many will have a lifetime of aches and pains as a result.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
