To be fair. David King & Luffy (esp luffy) have been Pro Melbourne all year. Big believers!

Kingy started on us on 360 before last season. When we missed in round 23 last year he was disappointed but flew our flag again and again. He's basically a demons supporter now.

i couldn't make sense of any of the opening post. gerard whately is good..he speaks with reason and logic.

in todays media when you have bogans galore in dermie, frawley, dunstall, robinson etc.its good to have someone who has some brains for once.

Not demonland's best work. But more entertaining than some...

Absolutely. Very, very good at his craft.

Gerard Whateley's agenda setting is cringeworthy. He created that whole state of the game momentum on AFL360 with that footy forum and his overreaction to Gaff was ridiculous. Needs to pipe down a bit.

Wonder if Gerard is working on a book about Australias greatest ever mare......

The Winx Story.

It was at its worst during the Steve Smith debacle.

We're still in that 24 hour period of being able to savior the moment. I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible before moving on.

We have three weeks to saviour it.

Kingy has been Driving the bus for just over a year now, since the win in Adelaide in 2017.

In the pre-season diatribe he was very subtly pushing our case. I got the feeling he didn't want to have to argue the point, as he knew people would scoff at him picking a side who's been so disgraceful for so long. But he was using his stats nous, and list build theories to put forward the case that we're a side built for finals. Not a perfect side, but a contested/clearance side.

Has love us for at least 18 months. G'day Kingy, if you're wandering through here. Appreciate the support.

Yeah we do but 24 hours is like a safe zone where I don't even want to think about the next game, team changes, finals aspirations. NOTHING. At some point soon I will but not right now.

I like Gerard. Listened to him this morning at 6am via the net

Weird feeling. Hated/admired him as a player. Very punchable face.

I find opposition players easy to hate but I alway admired David King. Hard and skilled and strong: a great combination. He'd have looked brilliant in red and blue.

I think I might just have my first. Good suggestion.

Yeah. Bit of Ballantyne to him though. As he says often he wasn't as gifted as his team mates (who was?), so he had to resort to other methods. Back in those days though he was just what we needed. Had that angry little nugget attitude.

He needs a voice coach, to teach him to stop sounding like a whining poodle.

Has got way ahead of himself and his self importance. Can’t listen to him anymore.

I like him to be honest, whilst he can come across a trifle pompous he looks at sport differently to many of his contemporaries.

Loves the sound of his voice (which ironically is freaking annoying) way too much. I’ve switched off.

Kane Cornes is better and that’s a pretty low bar to set

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
