GAMEDAY - Round 2

Featured Replies

3-5 to 1-2 this quarter.

Can someone in the coaching staff PLZ teach Christian Salem how to play midfield. There is no use sitting off the pack. Go in and get the FKN thing.

You'd think a team that just missed finals by the smallest margin ever would realise you're never ever ever allowed to take your foot off your opposition's throat when you think you've won it.

Lever has been horrendous this qtr.

We were darn lucky that wasn’t a free kick. But I suppose we got s raw deal, so it’s teat for tat

Surprise, surprise.  The opposition kick a few and get some momentum.  They are an AFL side after all.

Not only that, the umpires are giving them every chance to get back into it.  We go anywhere near them and they're blowing the whistle.

I'm getting sick of this umpire blaming. We are the more experienced team. Umpires are an excuse for the weak. Poor quarter from us, that's it!

Fumble fumble fumble.

To be fair, Goodwin plays him as a second key tall, when in reality he is a third tall drop off defender. Apparently Wagner is of more use than Frost.

Brown: "Tough conditions up here. Melbourne wouldn't be used to the humidity."

We bloody would be if we'd gone to Darwin this year.

Lame excuse. It’s been hot down here

No you said remembering winners, everybody remembers these, we're playing well tonight aren't we, having a few social pale ales and watching on big screen

You bought up a pile of cheats, not me

i have no time for cheating, my comments on the Essendrug disgrace were always rock solid.

Let’s see how the Premiership Quarter stacks up

jobs not even close to being finished yet

Not our best quarter, but the Lions got their tails up on their home deck and kicked a few.  That's life.

A couple of early goals to kick off the final term and they'll drop their bundle.

Annnnnnnnnnd once again we show how to let a team come back.

Zero leadership from our “leaders” who all panicked and fumbled.

Rocket up the backside Goody, what a shizen quarter of footy.

Any team five goals down against Melbourne is a chance.

The sad thing is, we need the percentage. We have literally not learnt a [censored] thing after last year’s debacle.

Goodwin has a lot to answer for. He still has not been able to get this team switched on for 4 quarters.

That we have to play an 8 man defense against Brisbane because they are dominating the game, is actually a joke.

Ugh. Going to watch the last quarter in bed. My enthusiasm Is really low. Was sitting in the lounge room with munchies and drinks and enjoying the night, now it’s like a late night movie that you have to watch but know you have to be up early the next day. Thank goodness for daylight savings.

The question is, in which quartervwill we totally drop our bundle?

It turns out it was the third quarter.

Dumb free kicks, lazy fumbles, overusing the ball in contested situations and poor skills.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

Melbourne wrapped up the AFLW home and away season with a hard-fought 14-point win over Geelong at Kardinia Park. The result secured second place on the ladder with a 9–3 record and a home qualifying final against the Brisbane Lions next week.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
