Hi. I'm from the UK, just moved to south east melbourne to be with mrs. I've been here over a year now, taking in a handful of games. I have family here as well, all Saints fans. Naturally, I kind of got drawn/pushed to be a Saints fan over the course of last season, and for xmas, without asking was bought a saints membership, guernsey etc. Now the thing is, I kind of really like Melbourne. I like the colours, a few players, the long-suffering nature (also true with Saints!). I went to saints/demons game last season, and kind of went for saints, but i was with all the afore-mentioned people. I don't know what to do! It's hard to 'choose' a team when you are new to a sport, and i would feel bad if i upset those who got me all the saints gear! But I just can't help but like the Demons!

How do I make the decision?!

Normally I would say run for your life.

But St Kilda are so bad in every way and do not haev one redeeming quality, Ill say stick with Melbourne.

Seeing as you posted here, I think you already know your choice.

Welcome to the MFC!

Buy a bottle of red, drink it slowly, savour the elements that provide pleasure, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Wake up with a hangover and realise you will still drink wine , support dees.

Wake up next decide never to drink again, support saints

Good luck!

You've answered your own question: You love the Dees.

Welcome to the fold, PommyRules - it's the perfect time to jump onboard!

St Kilda had their chance for a Flag in 2009 & 2010. Dees haven't even been in the finals since 2006. We were the first club, suffering the longest flag drought. If there's a movie featuring an AFL underdog, it should be about us.

St Kilda is my second team so I understand the appeal. But my heart beats true.

mate. as a new south welshman, i moved to melbourne in 09 and had to choose a team.. like you i liked the jumper, history and underdog status of the oldest club, but far out! don't expect too much joy. the few moments of joy that i've had though have been glorious! i cannot imagine how it'd feel to win the GF. stick with the dees mate. it'll be a shakespearean ride

Go for Melbourne-the oldest sport club in the World. We are a team on the rise!Welcome aboard.

It's easy mate, plenty more fish in the sea. Ditch the missus.

Not when you're fishing with my tackle

Depends, if you like setting dwarves on fire... go for the saints.

If you don’t, welcome to the Dees!

Are we still doing post of the week/year? This has to be up with the best of them, ever. Pure gold. Bravo @dpositive

Do you mostly have all your own teeth?

We invented the game, have the richest history, built the best stadium and don't harbor criminals.  Welcome aboard Bro.

I say you should barrack for the Demons.

I also say if you wish to stay a Melbourne man, stay away from Demonland. While we have a rep of being the club of choice for silvertails, public school students, members of the Savage/Melbourne club and blokes who bring cheese platters to the footy, the collection of weirdos and social misfits who post here will have  you running out of the room with your hair on fire.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
