The fact that Jack and his Manager travelled to Port yesterday and not the other way round, suggests he went there not just for a discussion but to view the facilities. That suggests advanced discussions.

Given he has 2 years to go on his contract with us that also suggests we are somewhat behind the move.

To me that suggests that if a trade can be done he is probably gone.

I will be disappointed and just hope that we don't get shafted ion the deal.

Let me be the first to say I think he will probably be a good player wherever he goes and we will probably regret it.

Hopefully I am wrong and if he goes we get the best of the deal.

Despite all the rhetoric , despite all the assurances, despite all the story so far it truly wouldn't surprise me one iota if Hogan is not at Melbourne next year.

It's absolutely nothing more that suspicion but Jesse has always had that air of a 'visitor' at Melbourne. Happy to be wrong but it would make a lot of sense should he go home.

He's never really settled into our lineup ( for a truckload of reasons ) and it just seems to this seasoned old spectator that he might never.

We've played a lot of footy without him. Won games without him.

I know my thoughts will not sit well with the majority but we might not ever see that potential consistently realised in a red and blue jumper.

Going to be a very interesting circus week.

I second that Red. I sense the club will do it in a prudent fashion accepting something that facilitates another deal etc. Doubt we'll get that value we here would require.

I truly think hes being pushed out the door.

Media are reporting he met with Port?  Was he sighted?

It would strike me as a big move for a Melbourne boy with his board shorts biz and everything else set up here.

I wonder how the exit interview went?  Maybe a few home truths about his prep and commitment - step up or step off sort of stuff?  Maybe not up for the challenge?

Anyway, contracted with 2 years to go, former number 1 draft pick.  Gotta get some things of value back for that (a first rounder for lever deal would work nicely, plus a player for good measure).  I would ask for Ollie Wines.

Can't wait for this stupid Grand Final thing to be out of the way, so we can get on with the excitement of horse trading!

Damn this club. Would be nice to have an actual footy interest at this time of year.

The thing is Red, he is not a good player for OUR team. At least not to the level expected. It makes zero difference what he plays like with someone else. Once gone, he is just another player to beat.

Life in Adelaide isn't nearly as bad as some parochial types here would have you believe !!

You might ask for Wines, but they'll only offer Beers and crisps ;)

Well I think that is absolute rubbish.  He is a good player in our team and the reason he attracts interest from other club is exactly because he is.

We are trading him because we think what we get is going to make us better.

You can ask for Ollie wines and be told politely to [censored] off. They might back them selves in for a decent 2018 so they might offer their 2018 first for Watts and our second.

Three way trade

jack watts to port

Hamish Hartlett to the suns

Aaron hall to Melbourne

That's a good deal, we get the worst player.

Aren't there 2 football clubs in that state and aren't we in negotiations with the other? ?

I get the feeling that if he and the Manager went there, the clubs are a fair way down the line on a trade, otherwise why waste the time and money.

Perhaps the Crows want a Port player and our first pick and Watts is being used to get that player across to the Crows.

We will know it all in 3 weeks and 4 hours .

I don't understand the constant speculation of Hogan returning to WA. To my understanding his mother lives in Melbourne.

If that's the case, they are probably just rumour mongering.

I don't think Jesse would want to move away from his family.

If watts was a cricketer?  He would be a leg side batsmen & spin bowler.

That fact that he's a former number 1 pick will have absolutely no bearing on the deal.

I had a look at mfc's membership page and couldn't see any players listed or the option to pay $5 (?) for the to have a player on card.  I may be looking  in the wrong place...

Or, is it now free?

Do you know who is being offered?

Yes, I believe so.

A friend of mine runs a dog walking business in the Richmond, Toorak, South Yarra area. One of her clients is his mother. She met Jesse at his mother's house when he was recovering from his cancer-related surgery.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
