i really hope it's all just white noise; you don't give up on a talent as special as jesse

It's absolute rubbish.  Simply won't happen.

You seem to be drawing a long bow here. You are making an assumption they are talking about him. Nothing they say indicates that. What else have you heard that makes you join the dots to think they are talking about him.

it's the third time i've heard it, and the third lot of journos to speak about it - two directly to me, and now these two

But they didn't mention Hogan. Did the other 2 you talked to say it was him? How bad a form would it be culturally to ship a kid around who's had the year he's been through. And we thought Bailey sacking McDonald was bad.

But is the talk of 'shopping' him around, as per your earlier post?

Or is it he has requested a trade to go home after a horrendous year which has finally decided for him where he wants to live.  And that the club has agreed to facilitate that?

A big difference between 'shopping' him around and responding to a request.

And maybe there is nothing in it because the various journos and others are quoting King after he 'philosophised' on SEN on a Hogan/lever trade!  It was a completely fictitious proposition by King!

not necessarily fictitious according to the rumours i've heard

generally speaking when one talking head mentions it the others follow up and chase the story, which would appear to 'have legs' here

i'm like everyone - i hope it's not true and whatever 'issues' exist btw goodwin / coaching staff and hogan can be worked out

fwiw there were rumours that hogan (and other players) also didn't get on with roos so perhaps his personality is such that communication was always going to be an issue regardless of who is in charge

but you'd really expect a good coach to work well with elite talent irrespective of personal differences; there would be a lot of 'personality types' at any footy club

Why on earth would he have signed on again for three years if he had issues with Goodwin?  They would have been working together for the past two years.  The journos are making it up - they're good at that, make up about 50 wild rumours, knowing that if one comes true, they're seen as a genius whilst we all conveniently forget the other 49 they got wrong.

Such rumours are the last thing we need when on the cusp of making finals, especially if the players have heard them!

Could easily be a morale killer inside and outside the club!

hardly

adelaide - lever this year (top of the ladder with three rounds to go)

richmond - neck tatts this year (top four)

gw$ - kelly (top two)

footscray - lin jong last year (premiers)

collingwood - cloke in 2011 (grand finalist)

there's always talk of player moment in every year and if the players, staff or supporters let that effect morale inside or outside the club more fools them

People forget so quickly what this kid did in a season when he won the rising star. He has now had a horrific year not only as a human but as a footballer too.

I always get annoyed of recent times because it seems our game plan isn't structured or suited to how he gets played and we certainly do not make the most of a top tier, future best forward in the league. We need to figure him and our game plan out, call Paul Roos ffs if need be.

if we trade him we are destined to rot and I want no part of this club.

It's still absolute, utter rubbish and you are silly for believing it.

Winning next three games would clear it up for a start!!!!

A clubs not built around one player...if he wan't out then get the best deal and move on.

I'm over the whole thing of the sky falling in if a player leaves, we are in a much better position now and the compensation for Hogan may well be worth it.

If he's here next year we're going back into the cycle of will he stay or will he go, unless he extends his contract further.

So you're mindlessly regurgitating a rumour you don't believe?

Perhaps 'passing on information that I have received that I refuse to believe out of fear of losing a player who could be a once in a generation talent' would be how I'd put it, but sure...

Paul Roos always said everyone is up for trade, if the trade will make the club better you consider.  It would want to be a good trade to see Hogan leave our club but with all that has gone on this year I wouldn't blame the kid if he wanted to return back to WA to be with his Family and Friends.

I wonder if Freo would consider trading McCarthy (though I would prefer to retain Jesse)?

Hogan to Fremantle, Lever to Melbourne, Fremantle first round pick to Adelaide

Still like the idea of having both Hogan and Lever  next year (despite one Demonland thread saying Lever is not coming and this thread suggesting Hogan is leaving)!

Much rather retain Hogan if the option ended up being either he or Lever. Players of Hogan's ilk are far more difficult to find than good third tall defenders.

One of the accepted lies in footy. That's what they say so that a player who is put up for trade can come back into the fold if it falls through without feeling persecuted. Reality is that there is a smaller batch of players you just can't trade

Fark me.

If we put Hogan up for trade after the year from Hell he's had I would be absolutely astonished. It would reek of poor behaviour and even poorer ethical standards given the process it took to get his extension signed.

Just, I don't know sometimes how the mods even allow this shite to stay on this board.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
