Looks class Trengove but very slow.

If he's class it won't matter, because class slow players don't often get caught.

If he's not class it will matter.

So is he class at VFL level and not class at AFL level ?  That's the question.

There are also posters who say he's slow every time they say his name.  It's like they can't say Trengove without using the word slow in the same sentence.

I don't take much notice of people these days who say he's slow, because there are a lot of dummies who post here.

Agree with this post in its entirety.

It's almost like they've never heard of Hodge and Mitchell.

Maynard may be in trouble for that hit on carr of Willy in  those last free seconds of that half, he was retaliating for a big crunching (but legal) bump the player did on BenKen.

Trenners the first one in to fly the flag in the ensuing scrap.

Williamstown clearly got a rocket at 1/4 time they lifted their intensity noticeably that quarter.

Best for us without seeing stats would be Hibberd (a clear class above this level) , Trenners, Maynard, Morris and Pedo

Watch the replay of Trenners in the Sydney game last year. His lack of pace was exploited.

It would be a nice story, but from what i saw at senior level last year he's just nowhere near the pace of the modern game.

I'm struggling a bit watching from ground level and not knowing a majority of the players but i thought Hibberd has struggled at times and looks like he needs the run. Wouldn't expect him back next week.

We were destroyed in that match and the ground was essentially flooded. If we judged everyone by the standard of that game we would have delisted 16 players last year.

Everybody sees it differently I guess. I just think there's a real sentimentality about the guy that I get, but it doesn't make me want to see him in the 1's.

He's painfully slow through the core, which makes him slow to react when the pace is on.

Yeah, he didn't have a great game against Sydney, but as Team has already pointed out, neither did the whole team. I'm happy to give the bloke the benefit of the doubt that last year, after basically two years out of the game, he wasn't at his best. At the end of the day, I believe that generally, natural ability wins out over pure athleticism.

Also, I really believe that this infatuation with Trengove's pace is almost a misnomer. Yes, he may have lost some of his speed, but he was never known for his anaerobic abilities.

Get the Pedobear back in the ones. He's been everywhere today.

If Hibberd gets through he will play. He has been very good to this point.

Casey are getting slaughtered in the air. Willy are marking everything.

who kicked that in?

Number 1. Is that Hutchins?

This commentary on the youtube link is pretty good!. One of them sounds like he is commentating a horse race

Brayshaw looks good but he is to quick for his team mates with disposal

So he can't improve that? Give it a rest we know your opinion. FD might see it differently

Bit like Mr 2 goal 'didn't look like missing' Spencer

When it was soaking wet up in Sydney?

No he cant actually.

Dammit Dec. He is carrying a pretty decent head cold and seems to be limping a bit but that was probably the worst decisions I've ever seen him make.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
