I just don't rate Brayshaw.

He can't get the ball and when he does get it he turns it over.

Either he improves massively in 2017 or he's trade bait for mine.

Were you one of those that wanted Hunt delisted?

No offence to @stevethemanjordan who I rate on this forum but why, oh why, are we discussing potential trades after only 2 rounds of footy have been played? One could be forgiven if it was looking Like 2013 all over again but it ain't.

And those who are suggesting trading Brayshaw need to take a good hard look at themselves in the mirror and then head butt it.

no, i don't "want" anyone delisted - i want them all to succeed.

but i'm cognizant of the fact that, at the moment, brayshaw is tracking no better than toumpas as a player.

i would love it if he could become a valuable contributor to the side, but at the moment is averaging less than 15 disposals a game at 68% efficiency across 33 games. it's not good enough, just as toumpas' average of less than 15 disposals a game at 74% efficiency across 35 games is similarly not good enough for a modern footballer be they a midfielder or a push-up half forward.

if brayshaw was what we had to give up to get a lever in, i'd do the deal in a heartbeat.

Dig up, not down!  ;-)

c'mon man youre losing all credibility now. Brayshaw was third in the rising start in 2015 from memory, had a cracking year.  he'll be back

Steve, It's fair to say that clubs have started sowing the seeds for potential trade acquisitions. Lever does address a need, regardless of how the season pans out, and now is time to get into his ear. Convincing the player is 99% of the battle,  because history will tell you that 99% of of uncontracted players will end up at their preferred destination.

Suggesting trade scenarios is a pointless excercise at this time because we don't know what currency either party will have by the end of the season. Having said that, I'd trade like for like:

Lever => Lumumba and Garland

Crows wanted Gibbs, still might want him. Could do a three way deal with Carlton and Adelaide.

Crows get Gibbs

Dees get Lever

Blues get our pick 15

Perfect!!!

So we all agree Lever is a gun but then we don't want to give up a good player for him in return?

Brayshaw for Lever is a fair trade until sentiments get involved

I don't see the glaring need - TMac, Omac, Frost, Hibberd - we could groom Keilty back there too but we're choosing to groom him fwd-ruck - there's a message there.

@McQueen - Because I saw the article floating around and thought I'd share it as a point of discussion.

I too think offering up Brayshaw is going a bit far.

There's a whole lot of untapped potential there, although I do think many demonanders believe him to be something that he's not; that being a classy and skilled user of the footy. Gussy will be part of a top five most important players in a couple of years, I'm sure of it. His attack on the ball, man and ability to mark above his head are his strengths. He is dual sided, but definitely not in the Mitchell league. It's an area he needs to clean up though, for sure.

I'm sure most are aware of the fact that we'll need to keep as much of our core together as possible to have a shot at the flag. Our core being Hogan, Weeds, Viney, Salem, Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, Hunt, Stretch etc. So if we were going to go after Lever, we'd be offering a fringe player and some future picks including a first rounder.

Anyway, too early to speculate but he's definitely a player I'd love at the club. I heard Mahoney saying not long ago that we have saved coin to lure someone at the right time and when I look at our list, I believe we're another quality tall defender short and perhaps a classy and skilled power running mid short.

i really hope so.

he's stopped developing at this stage imo.

Averaged 12.7 disposals first year and that rose to 17.6 in a year with concussion issues last year and then 21 in round 1.

Bit rough to compare him to Toumpas and to state he has stopped developing.

Especially since Blues knocked  back Crows  first and second round picks last year .

He didn't answer the question, Your Honour.

I think if this was suggested, they'd just cut us out of the deal.

Lever for Gibbs.

Brayshaw has the potential to be an A grade mid - they don't grow on trees.

i hate it when people say - 'we can find a mid anywhere'...

You won't stumble across a rolls Royce often and mids win flags.

That's only if Lever nominates Carlton as his preferred destination. Plus the Blues seem to be well stocked with young key backs, such as Marchbank and Plowman. They need quality mids more than anything.

If this is correct we don't need to get too excited.

Early in 2017, the out-of-contract Lever indicated he planned on signing another contract with the Crows, remaining in Adelaide despite his Victorian roots."

You're being very generous to Plowman, but I take your meaning.

Did you "call" for Hunt's delisting ?

The first 3 are hardly composed or reliable with ball in hand. Keilty is an unknown quantity at AFL level.

Lever would be a great acquisition if he were open to a move to the Dees and the deal could be done. Asking price would be steep no doubt.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
