Let's do it Demonlanders:  MFC Round for Reach

Just donated, hopefully the MFC can forge a close relationship with Reach they are a fantastic organisation born from one of our own

I'm glad it wasn't called 'Reach Round'.

Just watched Max promote Reach on AFL 360 and got a bit emotional when they showed the footage of Jim giving Max his jumper. Jim came and presented to us back when I was in middle school and it really had an effect on me. He was a great man.

One of Max's more serious interviews, and it was great. I'm not the most emotional bloke, but the Jimmy footage did get to me a tad.

$17,951.70
Raised of our $22,000 goal
I hope people donate tomorrow. Surely people can donate a bit more than $11. Need to smash that 22k. Jim and Reach helped so many people and we need to keep on supporting his fine work.

Amazing coincidence:

  • $26,000 raised before the game
  • $11,000 at the game
  • $37,000 Total

A very fitting outcome - as the article points out:  "Coincidentally, ‘37’ and ‘11’ were significant numbers for Reach’s co-founder, the late, great Jim Stynes, who wore No.37 in his first VFL/AFL match for Melbourne in 1987, before shifting to his regular No.11 the following year".

I think Jimmy would be rather chaffed that mfc is supporting Reach and amused that '11' and '37' featured prominently!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
