Cheer-squad leader Sophie Galer will be our very special guest on the Demonland podcast tonight.

Sophie has been involved with the cheer-squad for nearly 30 years, a role that requires an incredible commitment of time, money, energy and effort - a contribution recognised by the MFC last year when she was the joint winner of the club's Volunteer of the Year award.

Tune in tonight at 8.30pm as we ask Soph about her favourite banners over the years, who's hit the bullseye, and what it's like to be a member of the mighty Demon Army.

I fixed the issue I was having with the phone lines. Turns out that Skype was no longer supported on the outdated software version of my laptop. Laptop software and Skype have been updated and the phones are working again. You can all rest easy now. :P

@ GrapeViney towards the end of the podcast last night you said you were going to Bali and were worried you wouldn't be able to watch the footy as Australia TV channel had the Dogs vs North game on. When I was in Bali last year a bar we went to had a dodgy stream from far north Queensland showing the Collingwood vs Melbourne game so I think you will definitely be able to find a sports bar doing the same thing. Shouldn't be any need to download the AFL app or anything. Just thought I'd let you know.

I'm off to Fiji after the Swans game and will miss the Blues game. I will be taking a weekly subscription of the International AFL app. I don't want to risk not being able to watch the Dees play.

Still trying to work out whether I'll be able to successfully podcast from Fiji.

Great podcast last night :)

Big fan of WJ, even though I could only understand a small amount of his references to last century.

Then he started talking about the current team. Very astute man is WJ, great observations.

Can't wait for the next one.

I've been trying to get WJ to join us on the podcast all year. Perhaps if more people encourage him he'll make it a regular thing.

There's a possibility that the podcast may be cancelled tonight. It seems the Fijian internet does not want to connect to our podcast stream. We tested it yesterday and it worked fine. I'll keep you posted but it's not looking good at the moment.

I guess Grapeviney and I can still record the podcast but it might not be LIVE.

Looks like we'll have to cancel the LIVE show tonight. The Fijian internet just does not want to co-operate.

I'll check with GV as to whether we record the podcast and post it later.

I was really looking forward to our first international broadcast.

What am I suppose to listen to on my drive to work tomorrow?!

I don't know about you but I'm quite partial to the rhythmic flatulence of my own body.

Noooo!

i just collapsed into bed after eating three meat pies with mushy peas, mash and gravy with my hot water bottle, a cuppa and my headphones all ready to fall asleep listening to Andy's dulcet tones with waves crashing in the back ground!

hmph ?

We still recorded the podcast, albeit a short one, and wouldn't you know it, as soon as we finished I checked the stream and it was working. Damn you Fiji. No waves can be heard in this podcast. Next week I will have a recording of them to play in the background.

The podcast will be available shortly. I apologise in advance for my lack of following anything footy/demons related during the past 10 days.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
