Fantastic read Fork thanks for that.

Jeez we really do forget just how good Ox really was or how good he could have been.

Love the Ox in the media. He is a bogan supporter bit like Eddie McGuire. If you every heard him commentate on a dees games its quite hilarious because how bias he is.

He's abit of a mixed bag the Ox.
Often says the things that need to be said regarding Melbourne but also lets himself down at times as well.
Like whining about the early part of our draw this year for eg.

Remember it well. Was sitting in the MCC, right on the edge, near where the Melbourne members area started (where the cheer squad used to sit in the red seats). He did it while we were kicking to the punt road end, near the 50. The crowd roared when it went near him, but then suddenly ... silence. Could hear a pin drop.

Yeah that was the most depressing win I've ever seen, no one cared we'd won the match at the end

The OX unfortunately epitomised the MFC in the professional era. Now of course other clubs have had players go down 2, 3, sometimes 4 times with the same injury, but that we so loosely and casually allowed an absolute superstar to rush back into it not once, but twice, was in hindsight demonstrative of the club's unprofessionalism. Almost 2 decades later we still struggled with player management and only appear to now be entering the professional era.

Welcome to the AFL, Melbourne *slow clap*. Don't care what anyone says, we had a premiership team from 1994 until 1998 but we could just never get a full squad on the park, and I think it was more than just bad luck. Ox, Tingay, Charles, Lovett, Lyon, among others who just always seemed to be injured during that period. Throw in Jakovich and... well... time for a beer.

I cant think of VFL park Waverley without immediately thinking of the sick taste in my mouth after the '87 Prelim game in the car park.

And I Used to go there a whole lot. Was there for the night premiership the year or 2 before. Was on the video jumping up and down. Who cares.

But I wish the ratsh!t joint was pulled down like the Berlin wall.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
