I had a call from iSelect a couple of days ago and they gave me solid discounts off my gas and electricity bills, as well as giving me a voucher to pick up a brand new guernsey from the Demon Shop.

I asked them if they were calling to placate members after the Hawthorn loss. The lady laughed. It appears she knew what was up.

This is great though. Well done PJ and co.

They also called me. Funnily enough on my to do list was changing energy suppliers for both gas and electricity. Have been meaning to do it for ages but hadn't got around to it. They helped me do so and i score a dees 2017 jumper. Nice one.

Man, they just called me too. After I said "no thank you, I'm not interested", he just carried on. I had to hang up on the bloke he was rabbiting on so hard.

I'm all for a great new sponsor for the club but don't feel comfortable with the club providing Iselect with our phone numbers for spruiking purposes.

Worse than that, these fluckers already knew which gas & elec companies I'm with!

I don't recall putting that on a public register anywhere.

Maybe they're giving great deals, but just on principle, they can go and [censored] themselves.

I think they can tell from your address?

I find myself with a moral dilemma and seek guidance from Demonlanders. I discovered today that iSelect emails are automatically sent to my spam folder. As iSelect now supports my team, am I morally obliged to change my spam filter settings so iSelect's emails make it through to my inbox?

I've had about 6 unanswered calls from them in the last couple of days. Normally no one calls me, thank god. Didn't know who it was, Googled the number and there's a stack of people complaining of too many calls from them. Hmmmmm.

Well they haven't rung me (yet) but received a general email with some idea's to reduce electricity usage. I may well ring them to check on what they may offer BUT will I be opening a "pandora's box"? Haha

I got a call from them on Wed night, but they lead in with 'We're calling about the online comparison you did........'. Needless to say my response was curt, as I had not done anyone online comparisons with iSelect for anything. Told them where to go as it was right on dinnertime. Got a second call the next day, where the first thing the guy said after he announced he was from iSelect was that he got my details because I'm a Melbourne member, and the club thanks you for your support. Bloke was polite, well spoken, and not pushy at all. OK, you've got my attention. Did the dance on the phone, and turns out they will save me nearly $600 a year on my elec and gas, I'll get myself a 2017 Dees jumper, and I'll get a $200 Eftpos card from iSelect for changing both providers. Win win win for me :))

All I can say is as a member, I'm happy to support the companies that support the club. If they give you a call, at least give them the chance to see if they can save you some hard earned.

(And yes, I know this is my first post. Long time lurker. Pinky swear I have absolutely no affiliation with iSelect or anything else nefarious that would give me reason to tell porky pies on this forum.)

I was called from a Melbourne number. 03 9452 9040 for those who would like to accept or decline the call.

Ahhh THAT number that called me 7 times in the space of half a day... ??

Yeah, that's quite a lot of harassment. Did you answer any of them? If they are still calling you after you have told them where to go, that's not cool and the club should probably be made aware.

Yeah I told a guy a week or two earlier I wasn't interested. They seem to have dropped off now, though. Farkin irritating ?

I used them last year after recommendation, resulted in big improvements on electricity and gas deals.

They called again this week cos of the Dees thing, now they are saying they can do a lot better on private health insurance. Welcome news, outrageous expense, which happily is under-utilised in our family. Still waiting for the email to redeem the Dees Guernsey, however...

Strange. I know they don't just pick numbers at random.

Maybe someone put in a fake number and it was yours.

They'll be dialling the members phone numbers. I'm sure we've given consent when we sign up for membership..

No they can't unless you have used the Energy Watch, iSelect or Your Porter services in the past. All part of the iS umbrella.

Of course they do. How would they make money otherwise?

Would be interesting to know if they are paid for more the "best" recommendation...

WTF "nefarious" sounds suss to me. Contacted us up here. Said he'd check Post code, then said sorry not available there. I told him the mob that run our power are like The "Duke's of Hazard" only serious protective....

I'm not sure. I worked there and we were never told how they are remunerated by the insurance providers.

They should really have to disclose how much they get per policy, like we do as financial advisors with life insurance.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
