I have now received two different calls from

  1. past players association
  2. Melbourne Football Club

regarding their respective raffles. Being a regular purchaser of MFC raffle I was under the view that the raffle had changed until I got the call from MFC.

However now I suggest caution until there is validation of each's credentials.

Interesting, I have been getting calls from a Daniel who has been pushing tickets for the past players association and I've fobbed him off a bit because I'm not even remotely interested in the prize on offer. I've always bought a few tickets but this year I just didn't feel inclined so it is interesting to see that there may be two different raffles.

Have you been in touch with the club to see which is the club sanctioned one?

No I haven't as yet. Though it is interesting that both groups had my number and knew of my prior purchase. And I also thought the past players raffle was not of interest.

Yes, I got a similar call from the past players association with the implication that this was the club raffle that I normally purchase tickets for (even told me that the instant scratch and win was back).  I haven't received my ticket yet to confirm that it is the one and the same.

I must be a tight barstard lol. I always give my landline # ....shame no powered phone is connected !

Club has my email. Thats sufficient. Just tired over time of unsolicited calls...even with 'Don't Call' not so much clubs but all the rest.

So much dodgyness out there

I received the same approach as reported by others and have now received ticket and letter from Rod Grinter as Chairman MFC Past and Present Players and Officials Association. No real interest in the prize but I guess we could round up 24 guests from Demonland.

I have had the same calls and not having bought a past players' ticket before could not understand how they had my details but today the club explains it this way:

The club used to employ a marketing company to run its raffle but has now decided to do it in-house.

However, the same marketing company is running the past players' raffle and that is how they have the list of people who have previously bought tickets.

So like a mug, I bought a club ticket. Be hilarious if I ever won anything in this thing (although back in 1994 I did win a signed footy in one of Dudley's raffles).

I received a call years ago telling me I had won a MFC raffle and asking me for my postal details, I thought it was a scam. Two days later a new Motorola top of the range phone was in my PO box. That was a really good phone, thanks MFC raffles.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
