Voracious.  Respectfully, OD, it is so different.  Veracious they aren't, surely?

Can't quite understand why some wouldn't want footy on a Friday night or any night for that matter.

These days my interest in AFL is purely the MFC because I dislike almost everything that Gill and his old boys club do.

So one game a week is plenty for me

Let's get this thread back on track and focus on record membership numbers! I know that there are many Demonlanders content with breaking last year's record, others who are targeting 40,000, but personally I feel that we should go all-out to go for 45,000!

There is no reason why we can't get to 40K in the next week (after a decisive win on Saturday) and a further boost the following week after we dispense with the Top-of-the-ladder Tigers. 45,000 is not a pipe-dream so let's chase up the numbers!

Have you taken over from The Reverend.

Still I suppose it is sermon on the mount time

But what does "go all out" mean, in respect to increasing membership? I know the club and volunteers already do contact former members to encourage them to re-sign. What more can be done? The only other factors that come to mind are club success and an increase through family and generational growth.

If we can get to 42,000 this year, that will be a pretty good result. We can hope for more, but it's hard to see where they will come from.

Spot on I am not sure what CBD thinks we can do. Dragoon people of the streets perhaps?

Maybe we give memberships to ice adicts who are clean for a few weeks instead of movie tickets?

Everybody knows at least someone who assures you that he/she is a Melbourne "supporter" but never seems to put their hand in their pocket to take out a MFC membership. Often seen in the MCC members on Queen's Birthday and always have an excuse for being a tight-a*se. Plenty of barrackers out there when we start winning a few but converting them to supporters is a perennial problem.

p.s. I know how hard the Club's volunteers work!

What do you dislike about the current state of the game? GCS and GWS were the legacy of the last boss.

uncle fester, you will surely burn in hell !!!!!!!

you will be in good company. I was bailed up by a Christian in Swanston St one day. After I made some offensive remark he asked me " but don't you want to go to heaven? "  I said " mate, I wouldn't know anybody there  !!! "

Don't you use my name in vain OD.

I say let's aim for 50,000! There must be a lot of disgruntled Hawthorn supporters who would like to continue watching their team win premierships. That would be us.

Go DEES!

Seriously BD?

You need a little realignment.

OD.....Please.......I am not a religious fellow.....Every thing is shut........I need a little entertainment to get me through the day.......I love the RCH thing , but please I need something.     I find it great to have the footy on.

Netflix is your friend.

But yeah I agree. In the tradition of worshipping Ishtar on her holiday, no where does it say no footy and shops to be closed.

I signed my 15month old up last week -the question I pose to you is , am I a [censored] of a father, or will I be teaching him some inherent valuable life lesson in resilience?

I signed mine up at 6 months old last season, he's been to 3 games and seen 2 wins. GWS and Hawks.

Excellent ratio may it continue.

Well he saw the first half of the Hawks game, before screaming blue murder, pooping himself needing to be changed and then having to be wheeled out in tears late in the 3rd into the arms of his mother...

Much like most Dees fans ending to games over the last 10 years.

Every player should visit the membership department and apologise to the staff after that pathetic gutless performance.

Lewis and Hogan can go in too.

The staff? How about the members

Won't reach 40k,

What an absolutely negative comment to make when we are already over 39,000, nearly 3,000 ahead of last year and we still have to beat the Tigers next week at the "G"! Of course we will reach 40K and possibly do it this month! 45K is where we fall short, largely due to our last two underwhelming matches.

Yeah, will reach 40k comfortably. I'd say 42,500 or thereabouts is about what we can expect from here on out.

Seeing all those Demons signing up on Saturday, I'd expect the membership figure is actually quite a bit higher than what the website is currently saying. I'd expect this to be updated in the next 48 hours.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
