Setting yourself up for disappointment, WYL. Ridiculous expectations IMO, but I hope you're right.

Mate after the last 10 years i think i can cope.

Just remember the Steve Windwood track from the early 80's

I'm looking at licensing that track for a TV series, so I certainly do. ;)

I always remember it as i did a Contiki Bus Trip through Europe in '84 (and survived) and it was our song each morning

i certainly took heed!!

The karma bus is gathering momentum....Brown and Thompson out of the Norf side tomorrow.  Swannies have won the last 9 at Etihad.  Let's go Dees!!

We ain't playing finals this year but if we were, I'd back us to win an MCG final against anyone except for Hawks and Sydney - the finals professionals.

If we beat Carlton next week, that would get us to an 8-4 record at the G which is pretty damn good. The only MCg game that we were outclassed all day was against the Dogs.

Playing home games at the G is going to hold us in great stead in future years, when finals come around.

True. Hawthorn only loses to very good sides.

Happy enough that even a statistical chance allows this thread to go to four pages this late in the year,.

Much better dreaming of Finals  than draft picks,  but I think either Norf or sainters will ruin the dream,   But they havnt done it yet

Dream On    Go Dees !!!

I have been explaining the scenario for us to get in to finals this week to the footy fans at work. I've been so annoying with my ariffmatix.

Let's get through this week and I'm going to be bloody insufferable*

* We aren't going to get there but I'm having a good time right now! And I'm insufferable normally.

I'd seen it on one sports betting site at 34-1 earlier in the week.  That's why I jumped on the 100-1.

If the results go our way tomorrow we'll be the only one outside the 8 that can make it.

On the way to tullamarine now for tonights game. Fully expect a win and and '87 repeat of the westen oval game at kardinia park in 2 weeks. Who says history never repeats!

Had we won the game in Perth a few weeks ago, I would have been reasonably confident but the odds are now too great.

The odds are great. Multi it into finals 2017 and you get a nice little pay out. Now what to spend my money on?

Fascinating that the Saints game is on the same time as ours.

Not quite an '87 moment but eerily similar

Nah, the big one be will north vs gws that night, assuming everything has gone to plan!

We need 7 results to go our way to make the finals. We can now tick one off!

Dees into 41-1 now to make the 8.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
