such skill. Wow

It was SWYL but I'm going to be a killjoy. I reckon he clearly took that ball out not just by a little way but a good half metre.

Killjoy.

Geelong have started terribly against Carlton. Absolutely butchering the footy.

Cripps is comfortably one of my favourite non Dees, such a gun.

Geelong aren't switched on at all here.  Playing horrible footy at the moment, Carlton well and truly dragging them down to their level.

The way Carlton are playing they would have slaughtered us by desire, work ethic and team work if we played them this week.

Suddenly you can't read too much into Collingwood's surprise win over Geelong last week. Or... Carlton are just better than anyone expected? They win today (still unlikely with 2 players down with injury) and we're equal wins on the ladder. Frightening.

Carlton 10 tackle in forward half till half time. We had 4 for the entire game to Ports 12.  Tell me, what does that have to do with youth and consistency?

Brendan Bolten has done a fantastic job so far with Carlton, i still think their list is average but i think they're definitely on the right track.

It tells me that, because of our youth, we can't do it consistently.  Just because Carlton are doing it today doesn't mean they've done it every week either.

wow just tuned on the radio and heard the Carlton geelong score. Then read that murphy has been off since the 1st quarter. Brendan Bolton is doing the right things with that group. Obviously a good teacher. It would be a massive upset.

Oh god its great to see Geelong getting exposed

Just goes to show that less talent, but flat out effort, can beat huge talent that isn't 100% 'on'.

Yesd and I hope Simon Goodwin turns out to be as good as Bolton or better.   Bolton is doing this with a putrid list.

Will be interesting to see if Geelong really are exposed as pretenders. They looked seriously average for huge portions of 2015 and decided to take the top-up route with Danger, Smith and Henderson (ala North Melbourne). A good plan for the short-term but can fall apart pretty quickly. Who is part of the Cats' youth that stands up once the older crew drop off?

I don't really want Carlton to be 5-5 because they'll jump us on the ladder in short order. But Bolton needs to be seriously commended for what he's achieving with that list. He clearly has total buy-in from every player and it shows.

The MFC situation over the past 3-5 years looks highly exposed when you look at what Bolton has done at Carlscum with just one pre season.

I don't care how old or inexperienced our players are.

Make them mentally tough or they won't make it.

If Carlscum shoot back up the ladder ahead of the MFC again and start playing finals i will become rabid.

Goodwin better be the best young coach in the land.

Love watching players who walk out on struggling clubs lose to them, ala Lachie Henderson if Carlton hold on

So clearly this was the case last year when we beat Geelong at Geelong?

Why are Melbourne supporters so freakin masochistic after a loss?

Honestly, it's boring.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
