Seen the figures for how many women have been murdered this year in Australia? It's pretty clearly a problem in itself whether your head is in the sand on purpose or not.

How many were related to child custody disputes? Or is that off topic?

The point of my statement is that it was a woman.  Of course violence against anyone is unacceptable BUT it was towards a woman.

Our Australian of the Year, Rosie Batty has been campaigning all year to raise awareness in this area hence my comment.  This is a perfect example of where we as a society need to do better.  Zero tolerance.

When will it be common knowledge that these 900 or so players are NOT role models, they are young men with a talent for playing football. They are a microcosm of the community, with all its great attributes of leadership, honesty, integrity. It also has it's issues, and drugs and violence are unfortunately part of it.

The AFL and clubland can educate and support, it is up to the young men with the talent to show what sort of men they want to be.

That has absolutely no bearing on anything. Why would you even bring that up? Does that make it ok?

A friend of mine knows the owners of the bar, which is actually a japanese restaurant/bar thing.

The female involved did far more to provoke the situation then the media reported, much more.

Had a very "hot", running mouth and works in the media and sprouted so, whilst insulting Dusty for the form he was in as soon as he entered the building basically, which led to what he did. Still, all that aside, his "chopstick reaction" was not warranted and deserves to be punished.

This is a bit poor mate. So she was "asking for it" was she? It's now her fault for what he did? This is exactly what's wrong with attitudes at the moment.

lol. i didn't say any of that. Was just saying that there was more to the situation so people were informed, and it wasn't as if Dusty just came up to her for no reason. I can lie and say the situation was different if it appeases you? Perhaps you didn't read the part where i said, "all that aside, his reaction was uncalled for..."

But yes Stuie, you fill in the gaps to suit yourself as you please.

Quotation marks are used to quote someone, where did he write "asking for it"?

Sounds like the same old story. Oh he shouldn't have done it but she was running her mouth off... Pathetic. So physical violence is the appropriate response to a woman with a "hot running mouth"?

They are also used when you are clearly paraphrasing. But sure, if quotation marks is the issue here you knock yourself out with that.

wowee. You really are quite stupid.
I explained the whole situation in full, and said that she was also verbally abusive to him. I never said she deserved any of it, or even mentioned physical violence as being an appropriate response. I was purely giving people the full insight into the situation, that the media hadn't reported. I will repeat myself again:

"Still, all that aside, his "chopstick reaction" was not warranted and deserves to be punished."

According to Caro last night on 3AW the woman works as a Producer for Channel Seven. The Sunday Night show was mentioned I think. On SEN I think Mark Allen mentioned that the woman walked over to Martin and told him to settle down.

According to Caro Martin said "are you going to dob me in?".

The question was asked why didn't the restaurant staff step in?

There is no reasoning to be done here, there are no excuses, there is no version of this that makes what he did ok or anything the woman did that "led to what he did".

From my mate, Stuie please ignore as you will take it out of context.

"The owners tried to remove her because they saw what she was doing but she started yelling who she worked for and that they'd all be on the news and that's when Dusty lost it again. His reaction was obviously totally uncalled for."

Ah yes what a silly woman choosing to approach a big tough man disturbing everyone and run her "hot mouth" off. Poor Dusty was trapped I tells ya. It's obviously all a setup and he's the real victim here. Women should know their place and not try to talk to men unless spoken to.

All hail Stuie, protecting women's rights by fighting people on internet by taking them out of context.

That's absolute rubbish to do that. They're basically saying it's her fault and then adding the little after note of "oh but he shouldn't have done it... probably... I guess..." (ps - that's not an actual quote, it's a clear paraphrasing).

Great owners by the way trying to remove her rather than the clearly (at least) drunk footy star.

Seen the video kicking around by the way Song? It shows Martin clearly standing over the woman who is sitting at her table.

no one is justifying what Dusty did. You are actually going off your [censored] about things you have made up in your head. Quite sad.

Oh sorry Song, you're right, they should all get back in the kitchen and not run their "hot mouths" off.

It's an internet forum. Had some inside knowledge, so i shared it. None of my own opinions were placed in this, just the knowledge i had.

Now that's a direct quote.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
