Re first unread posts, it used to be that if you were logged in and then clicked the View New Posts (iirc) button, all topic titles would take you to the newest post in the thread.

That is still the case. The View New Posts button is the circle or star to the left of the topic title.

No..there was a button on the top right (labeled View New Posts) that listed all updated topics since the last time you pressed it.  If you had read one the topics between pressing the button, it become greyed out but was still in the list. Clicking on the title of a listed topic took you to the most recent post since you last clicked the VNP button. The new "Unread Content" works in a similar way, but the thread titles don't take you to the new posts, only the tiny dot.

I think that's now called Unread Content below the Search Bar near the top of the page.

Also, if there is no new content in a thread in the 'unread content' list and you select that thread (you cant select the dot because there are no new posts) it takes you to the first post versus the last post as it used to.  (Note- I modified the stream to show All Content so that newly read threads don't disappear from the list, they just get lose their bold.)

just as an aside

everytime i start up i get automatically logged in. only very rarely do i have to manually login and there is generally a good reason for this

so, you shouldn't need to manually login unless you have cleared cache, reinstalled browser or such like things

if you don't set up a login then you suffer somewhat and just get a deprecated experience. same with other forums

Bottom of every page on the site. It's text that says Theme. Click on it and select Demons. If you want a generic coloured one for browsing at work then choose the Safe for Work theme.

err, OK. cool

Hi all

Love the new theme. Great work Nasher et al.

I have a question though... is there anyway to make it so that when i open a thread it goes straight to the last post that i read? Was really handy on the old mobile theme...

A slight aside.... the old way I posted memes or gifts doesn't seem to work now. Can someone give me a simple way of doing this on a mobile device such as iPad? Thanks

Promise I won't ask how to get to the last unopened post on a thread!

When you are typing in the reply box directly below it is a paperclip icon. Next to it is a link that says Click to Choose files. Click that and follow the prompts to select and image from your device.

Alternatively if you have a link of an image from the web click the icon above that looks like a chain link next to the smiley face and then follow the prompts.

So I'm just minded my business watching a movie on a laptop with my chrome browser on in the background.

Beep. Through comes a reply to a Demonland post I made in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Brilliant. A little scary. But brilliant. Great work guys.

One little thing.

When I come back to a thread that I've been reading it goes back to the first post and I have to scroll down through posts I've read.

Before the update it would always start from where I'd stopped reading.

Not a major worry but annoying.

If you find the notifications to be annoying then you can turn them off in the notification settings at the top of the page by clicking the bell icon.

Nothing has changed in that regard. From where are you clicking that it takes you to the first page rather than the last new post. If you are in the forum index and click on the topic title it will always take you to the first post in a thread. Click on the little circle/star to the left hand side of the topic title and it will take you to the first unread post. If the topic title is unbolded then there are no new posts for you to read and hence if you are unable to click the circle/star as there are no new posts.

Getting better every day, Thanks all.  Time for another donation methinks.

.................. but I can't find the donations button.  Could a smarter person with better eyesight point me in the right direction please.

This membership reputation thing is, I dunno, bizarre.

Why is it there?

Other than that - love the site and great work Andy and Nasher

I'll just be your pro bono business manager for a moment and suggest you move this to the top of your To Do list. Strike while the iron is hot.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
