I think it was pretty common knowledge he was injured very early in the pre-season.

Agree on the state of the injury list though. Although realistically, even though Trengove and Petracca are "available", they are still a few weeks away from being ready due to injuries.

He doesn't deserve anything

he should have stopped playing with an injured foot long before he did..

Part of what you say i believe is correct. Yes The club played him as he was the marquee player when he should have been rested, Trengove has to take some of the blame as he was the one running on the injury and should have said "hey i just can't go anymore" but as he had been named captain i guess pride got in the way. But he could not run or kick more than 35 metres for at least 18 months.

The entire episode is a sad state of how ameteur the whole club was. Makes me very angry and i hope i am not alone.

I don't hate Jack at all, but at the same time he deserves no special favours. If he plays again it can only be because he has earnt it.

Yes he is training nicely but that is light years away from playing flat out on match day.

You must realize he stressed a bone injury for 18 months for the sake of what? Schwab's ego...??

who knows but for the medical staff to allow it is just so wrong.

I said after the Richmond saga he wouldn't play again, now if i am wrong, great i will rapt. But he doesn't deserve a game just because of what he has been through. He has to be playing better than a bunch of other younger players

I have no time for the "emotional" game. I think Jack pushed his luck too far by playing on an injured foot for so long.

If he makes it into the team and plays good luck to him.

But training and playing in the senior side are 2 very different things.

If Trenners came back at the peak of his previous powers (not projected potential) who would he replace from the current best 22 and in what position (taking into consideration that some of the best 22 are there on projected potential)?

It's not about who he would replace in our best 22 - it's about adding another quality player to our best 30 or so. How often does a clubs best 22 actually get out on the park? We've got triers like M Jones, Kennedy, Newton, Grimes still getting senior games - we've got others like Terlich, Stretch and ANB on the list who are either not good enough or not quite there yet. It's not like we're trying to fit him into the Hawks here, he would definitely be an addition to our list if he can get fit for senior footy.

The Captain just gave Jack a huge rap for his efforts, tenacity, courage, personality etc.  He is clearly an inspiration to others and deserves to be back on the park and hopefully in the ones asap.  All the very best for Friday and the start of a renewed and long and successful career.

No, that's correct, you can't. And what I think is that there is no need for such unrelenting and all-consuming meanness, negativity and whining.

I usually don't jump in but I will on this one.

You didn't think he would make it back - fair enough opinion as many thought that.

You didn't believe he should be afforded any special treatment - don't disagree

You thought he should bear some responsibility for playing injured - not sure on this one - I think he just wanted to do the best for team but certainly he did not do himself or the team any favors.

You mentioned that if he plays again in the team he will have earned it ( and good luck to him).

Undeetered/ Cranky  - I think there is a big difference between thinking he will fail in his come back and wanting him to fail.

We talk most persistently about the prospect of things we most fear or desire.  I'm not persuaded by SWYL's disclaimers - not, of course, that he gives a stuff what anyone else thinks, that's taken as read.

If every player on our list was as professional as JT we'd be in for a very successful few years ahead.

Anyone know what time the Casey VFL/AFL Match is? Apparently it's on Friday??

Anyone know if the players not in contention for Saturday will play?

I'd be staggered if they didn't. Would seem counter-productive to give them the weekend off.
