Watts will start rd one 2016 because Weideman will need 6-10 games in the 2nds,Dawes may be on the outer as Pedersen could edge him out. Don't be surprised to see Jack play as a ruck-rover,the position is a coinfidence booster.People can blame Jack for not living up to expectations but at the end of the day Jack is responsible for his outcome.

Would you like to have a bet on that?

I'll wager he will play more than 10 games and if i lose will take a 2 month sabbatical form Demonland. If he plays more than 10 you change your avatar for two months to a pic of Wattsy of my choosing.

How about it are we on?

Done.

EDIT: to be fair, I should have his avatar the entire summer. You taking months off means I should at least have a 6 month avatar.

Game on. Best of luck. I hope he doesn't get injured.

As for the avatar i don't mind if you have 6 moths in your avatar as long as the head of each is a smiling jack watts.

Well i wasn't offering you the bet but i'll take it none the less. Go Jacky boy.

By the by technically NAB games count as proper season games weren't specified, but in the spirit of the bet we'll make it the season proper.

Crickets thus far from PD by the by

It seems I've misread this.

Just to clarify - I am backing Watts to play more than 10 games for the MFC in the season proper next year. As are you.

Accordingly, it seems the bet is you (binman) and me v. ProDee. Avatars to be selected by the winner for a 2 month period following the season.

Happy to field suggestions for ProDee's temporary avatar now.

If Pro-dee loses it will mean we will greatly regret giving up our 1st pick in 2016 draft. It would be rather valuable.

I note that this is binman's wager so it's possible that it's not workable three ways (unless ProDee accepts the bet and binman and I then agree upon an appropriate avatar for ProDee once Watts plays his 11th game in the seniors next year).

If that's not acceptable to binman and ProDee, I'll simply register my support for binman in relation to this bet.

I tell you what...

I'll change my avatar to Binman's choice for 6 months from the day he plays his 11th game (won't happen) and you can dictate my signature for the corresponding period.

I want PD to wear Watts' face, but I'd rather Watts didn't play any games. I'm so conflicted.

Going by the 2nd half of the year, no his is not best 22, and the last round proved that.

Next year is a new year, players will be judged on their commitment to pre-season training and NAB games, not on the performance from the previous year.

Is it a confidence issue with JW? Is that the only thing holding him back?

He still looks way too similar to that boy on QB.

Loved how he tried to take the game on more this year, he is so quick off the mark.

Just wish it would click for him and we see his U18 form translate to the seniors, I really do.

Excellent.

Good to have you on board the Watts train Ron.

It is reading posts like these that are going on between prodee, binman and ron that make coming here so much fun. I sometimes forget that we are all on the same side here supporting the wonderful MFC.

For the record I feel that No4 is set for a big year and will be integral to us surprising many in the industry this year.

And if Colin Sylvia has a good preseason under his belt, he'll also be part of our resurgence.

Wait, what? Being dropped for one game when you've played 20 others proves you're not best 22?

Without wanting to get into another back and forth debate about where Jack 'Rolls Royce' Watts sits in the pecking order i would dispute both your claim he is not best 22 and your evidence.

On the evidence front i would offer the following in terms of him being best 22:

  • Roos has selected him for all but 4 or 5 of the 46 games he has been coach
  • Sure they may have shopped him around but the fact the dees did not trade him suggests they believe he is best 22 (or at the least close). If they didn't rate him at all or see him as part of the future they would have cut their losses and taken a second rounder (which they would have got). They didn't hesitate to cut Toumpas, despite getting SFA for him
  • I rate him in our top 22

Something i noticed at training the other day that i haven't seen from Watts is a bit of leadership, he's really getting around the boys this year more than i've seen him do, maybe growing up a bit.

Posted

What happens if he plays the first 9 games and is then injured for the rest of the season?

I lose the bet, though would argue for a moral victory

Yes, it does, hence why he was not best 22 in that match. I found his form dwindled in the second half of the year, I'm sure if we had a suitable replacement he would have been dropped more often.

The bold text is the best. Being in the best 22 means being in the best 22 not being close. Jordie was named emergency many many many times, would you consider him being in the best 22 because he is at least close?

I know what you are saying, i just do not agree. Toump showed us absolutely nothing, Jack has. Maybe the FD thinks its worth more trying to get him to be consistent than try their hand at a 2nd rounder, this time around.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
