Either way, our crowds should improve. Apparently he brings all the boys to the yard.

Ran into Simon Goodwin before my basketball game today. His daughter played in the game before me

and...

I'm sure a lot won't agree with me, but I expect Melksham to have an impact equal to Vince.

Are you thinking top 5 bnf or just playing a similar role?

All concerns about eligibility aside. I can only think of one main reason hes being looked. I think Goodwin sees him as a line breaker. Milkshake does appear to have a knack for finding space and instinctively moves FORWARD.

These are things we need to do more.

Time will tell i suppose.

Vince won a b&f at the crows, and Melky will be younger when he comes to us. Can't compare the two..

You definitely can if you're not talking about past performance, but what they will do.

If Goodwin & McCartney think he's worth it then we should trust them on this...my only reservation is what WADA have to say.

Surely Essendon are throwing in their third rounder. Surely...

You would think so, Melksham is a very ordinary football player. I would ask for Essendons second rounder.

Trade radio suggests this deal will be done for a second round pick tomorrow.

That sounds about right to me. A first rounder was overs and a third rounder is probably a touch low.

We are going to get something decent for Howe and I can see Melksham contributing just as much, if not more, than Howe has so it's a fair deal in that context.

god i hope so, will be a massive loss on our behalf if we pay that much for him

He Isn't worth pick 25 though, late 2nd rounder at best

Maybe not...

and don't call me Shirley.

Jeez, our second round pick is overs. The Demons are like the eager to please kid in the school yard. They roll over to please the popular kids (Collingwood, essendon)

Can't recall a good outcome trading with essendon or Collingwood. They always sneak one past us.

They would be loving a second rounder for melksham.

I'm not exactly comfortable with the deal either but he isn't worth our first rounder, obviously, and he is worth more than our pick in the 40s. Unless we can get another pick this deal is about as fair as it's going to get.

/facepalm

Essendon will be laughing their asses off behind closed doors.

And we will be openly in 18 months' time.

Agree with this, we drafted in Vince for pick 20 odd, but we also drafted in Dawes for around the same. I think the Dons win this deal if its true.

Not necessarily our first second rounder...

Baffling decision..

But why am i not surprised.

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
