How will Geelong supporters react this morning? Call for Scott's head. Question the players' commitment?

A club with everything to play for, getting smashed in the first quarter (7 goals to 1) by another club much lower on the ladder who had nothing to play for

Geelong were out-tackled yet, Collingwood had much more of the ball.

Obviously the Geelong players have an issue. Poor effort and intensity etc...

Wonder if Frank Costa will raise his head to highlight his concern?

Come now, Geelong are on the verge of their worst season in 12 years!

They might even finish with the same number of losses as wins!

One more goal last night and it would've been their third 50+ point loss in a season! How could they cope with only having the same number of 50 point wins as losses?

But the real test of Geelong's character will come next season. What if they continue to stagnate in the murky celler-dwellar zone of 6th-10th place on the ladder all season? Can any serious football supporter be expected to stay loyal and firm after a second consecutive season out of the finals?

But we shouldn't worry about Geelong's negativity. they have proven truly resilient over the years. Missing finals 9 times since 1989 has been a tough ride.

And I'm sure that their disastrous pair of wooden spoons in '57/'58 still crush their souls every bit as much as Melbourne's golden era of the time lifts ours.

Sure, they won premierships five years before that, and another one five years later, but still... tough times.

The MFC reminds me of a team that genuinely wants to get better because that's what should happen, not a team who desperately wants to get better and will one way or another make it happen.

there are certain players within the club hell bent on seeing us improve, and there are others that think it'd be a nice idea.

we need to be ruthless this off season, i'd rather see 18 year olds running around giving the effort of Brayshaw, Stretch and Nibbler than blokes who have been around a while and lack the fire in the belly to make things happen.

I'm not making this point to have a go at Roos. I'm saying our supporters have every right to be cheesed off with our insipidness over the past decade and it explains why supporters jump up and down. Roos is the only one making references to the past and has just stopped doing so within the past fortnight, before that it was the excuse almost every week.

If you think the supporters are the weakest link here then you're clearly showing your lack of football nous. Further, if you can't see that Roos is using the supporter base as a deflector for his team's poor performances, then you're not as smart as you think you are.

I still think they're in a serious downward spiral. Their champions are old now, and slowing down. Their young crop aren't anywhere near as good as the ones they are replacing, and personally I don't believe Scott is anything special as a coach. Looking forward to seeing them somewhere near the bottom in the near future.

Oh no doubt. But I'd trade their last decade and current situation to ours any day of the week.

The issue isn't that we stunk it up against Carlton last week - the issue is its happened about 5 times in 8 weeks (maybe more?) It is the norm for us, it is not the exception. Had we not turned in the performances we did against St. Kilda, Essendon, North and Bulldogs then the Carlton performance wouldn't be as infuriating as it was. It's all about context and ours is embedded both in the recent past (the last month and a bit), the short to medium past (the last 9 seasons) and the longer term past (the last 5 decades).

Most of those "disappointing" performances have been since this artificial and sudden change in the game, orchestrated by the AFL who are so frightened how stoppages impact the growth of the game and $$$$. This also lead up to the rights deal. Do the maths.

And Essendon, are you serious? So we are going to put inaccuracy into 'effort' and 'attitude' now are we. "If the players gave a siht they would kick straighter". The bulldogs are a top 4 side FCS. Their journey started years ago from the ground up. Whatsmore, Eade wasn't the wrecking-ball Neeldy was.

Now, did I need this article to come up with my argument? No, actually I raised these issues long before these stats come up. Some of us can actually see what is happening out on ground before the "stats" and "facts" emerge. That is the difference between the 2% that barrack for Melbourne, and the other 98% who let SEN and pub talk and "stats" dictate their thinking.

I can understand why supporters are negative,the club now and in the past have made many fundamental errors (1) the influence of the MCC members (2) no structure in place and development for youth,under Slug Jordan U19 premierships were won yet the players didn't seem to advance to the seniors,the same went for reserves (3) recruitment of has beens (4) Bad choice of draft pick i.e Toumpas when we could had Wines and Watts when we could of had Nic Nat. (5) Vision and much more.

The things that pee me off is the critique of casey players and not the seniors,this cannot be made by the existing coach the wording and phrases are the same as the last coach.Players threatening the club after being dropped i.e Sylvia.The endless oportunities given to a select few whilst others get very little chance.

Not that this is the point, Collingwood won a flag 5 years ago and Richmond are looking dangerous this year. Hardwick is the new Daniher. His teams will never make it, but they'll win their fair share to get to finals. Not particularly apt comparisons.

Further, I don't want an apology for the past. I do want my team to play to an AFL standard now though. Is that alright with you?

Worst list in the afl in 2013 , turnover over 22 players in 2 seasons & we expect it to be fixed...

We want to slay every young player we have & expect them to be champions from day 1....

Continueing from my 6.06 pm comments,what also pees me off players given free speech and in doing so they end up making dum arse calls i.e Dawes statement early this year the Hawks are ripe for the taking,nothing like egg on your face 100 pts loss.Matty "sweller" Brugan analyses of the match just sounds too "mushy".The club needs to be tough on and off the field. Someone made the statement that we do not have quick footballers,part of that is true,some players are quick but can look slow it is perception.Increasing players reflexes can improve their speed and increase their response time when delivering the ball to fellow team mates.The positive side is the dees have recruited mids in Hunt and Harmes,a defender in White, A forward/whatever in O.Mac and a possible ruckman in King.With Frost,Kent,Petracca available next year. If we can pick up A fwd,a mid and a defender for next year the club should be much better off.Talking about speed Fitzy is fairly quick personally I would play him on the wing in the reserves to see what he can do. My end of year prediction Cross will replace one of the midfield coaches,Jamar will be the new ruck coach.Mckenzie,Bail,Terlich,Toumpas,M.Jones,Riley or Minchie and Fitzy or Spencer and Howe to be delisted/traded.
