Tomorrow at work the smug Roos supporters will come up to me and say "Dees showed a bit".

Like they have done since time started.[/quote

The complete rebuild of tour club from top to bottom is a work in progress, Roos is building a foundation & has turned over the list with 18 players & more to come . The reality is we are a better performing team & should have been on 8 wins which is a far cry if a train wreck in 2013 & getting smashed each week... bomber Thompson took 8 years to win a flag & build a power house club .. Reality guys????

Can somebody point me in the direction of anything official at all that talks about this supposed virus that swept the club, apparently affecting multiple players at both the MFC and Casey? Is this just a Demonland rumour or something more? If it is in fact true, I would suggest the club acknowledge it formally as you could well argue it cost us a match this week.

Paul Roos confirmed Jack Watts was pretty crook before the game, Jack Fitzpatrick pulled out of the VFL game because he too was pretty crook, Toumpas was also pretty ill on the weekend and Jayden Hunt the week before.. so something definitely went through the club.

Roos made mention of it last night on 360 in passing. Said it effected players but a lot of clubs have to deal with it at this stage of the season..

someone said roos made mention of jw being sick during week and touch and go if he played

fitzy didn't come up for magoos

comments (dl) re toumpas was crook with a cold

but nothing from club about large numbers being infected during week

these days a 5% drop-off can make a huge difference in your score/performance

Yes dc during 2012/3 we had the worse flu ever

Watched the game last night. Was in transit when it was on so missed it. Would have been there otherwise.

Few notes:

- Dawes undoubtedly played his best game for the club, and probably his best game since vs Adelaide in 2014

- Tyson was in and out but his decision making was better

- Brayshaw's mark, run and goal in the 3rd made me orgasm. He is going to be spectacular. Seems like he needs a rest, though

- Viney is having a fantastic second half of the year

- Our defensive breakdowns aren't structural or coachable: they're issues that persist among experienced players

- Jones has been blanketed by the tag on more occasions this year than on others

- Vince's inability to get into the game cost us dearly

- Gawns was great but soundly beaten. Great learning game

- Jack Grimes and Viv Michie are depth players. We severely miss Kent and Salem

- Garlett was disappointingly shallow and lazy. I thought he's been great for most of the year with his second-efforts and forward defense but he was very poor. We needed him to be more involved

All in all, I actually thought it was a very enjoyable game. Winnable, but unsurprising they got over us. I thought our experienced players cost us many goals in the first quarter. Quite telling that it's now an issue of how poor our experienced players are, rather than how inexperienced we are. We were let down by 100+ game players on Sunday.

Praha - Not sure if you've read elsewhere but there were a few who were hit with the flu during the week which provides context as to why some were a little down on their standard output on the weekend. Vince I think would be one as he was no where near the level he's been for the past 5 weeks. Jones may have simply been well contained by Jacobs.

From a personal connection, I can assure you Nate Jones was pretty sick last week. I actually mentioned it pre-game on the gameday thread. You could notice how it was taking him longer to bounce back up from the hits he was taking during the match too.

IMO the major reason we lost this game was once again our poor kicking.

For the umpteenth game this year we kicked ourselves out of it.

Poor field kicking contributed to a lot of turnovers.

Until we up the Kicking skill level of the group we will remain the bottom third of the competition.

Recent recruiting has been of footballers who are also athletic, rather than athletes who we hope we can teach football.

Huge change there.

ALL the newbies this year look as if they know the game and can at least kick the ball.

Huge change there.

The others will move on one way or another.

Up forward wasn't the problem so much as down back in the first quarter when brown and petrie had their way, but upon reflection, that was more a problem with how easy they were walking it out of the middle in that first quarter.

Hypothetical of course, as he couldn't play due to illness, but would a fit on song Fitzy have made a difference.

Hypothetically?

A point I was trying to make to some of the residual JW haters, and to whichever 'loyal supporter' it was that said (or implied) than Nathan was having a sook.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
