Now that the moz is on who are the dollars on? Dunn on Brown would be a good start.

nah, you don't get rubbed out for jumper punches or pointing

more likely viney for accidentally killing someone

Viney on Thomas. Intent- average. Impact - non-existent. Effect-death. How many weeks according to the MRP formula?

Accidentally?

Yep! Jones knew exactly what he was doing. The grin as he walked off said it all. Leadership statement!!

we're a young side with a mew culture forming that is like a broken leg repairing. its like puttt atmo, & the el capitan showing the way is exactly what we want if we are to ever become an intimidating & a feared side of the competition.

green would never have done that, nor bruce nor yze, nor robbo,

Jnr would have, neita would have, schwarta would have, whelan would have,,,,,

...... its time to leave the petals of fuscias behind us, well & truly; & for once become a fhard arzzed club, with a hard arzzed team of goers.....

Can anyone remember the last time we asserted ourselves physically? It's been a long time. I liked it.

What a pack of fossils and dinosaurs. Talk about live in the past, violence and thuggery has no part in football. But seriously it was great wasn't it.

This year has had a few of those games I think - the Richmond game comes to mind.

My old coach said, "hit em low, hit em hard, hit em often. If they get up hit em again." He did not mean punch them, I don't think he did anyway.

It was in the day that you could do a Byron Pickett shirtfront (Pickett could also tackle). He preferred a hurting hip and should to tackling.

But what I think most posters are getting at it is NOT old fashioned Leigh Matthews / Ted Whitten type thuggery, but just real aggression towards the guy who wants or has the ball - great to see.

We don't want to see guys hitting or elbowing opponents in the head or face* - just hard body to body contact so that if they want the ball they have to earn it.

*or even the cowardly Gibson gut punches

truly to me around the time of the late 80's - early 90's. like a band of brothers, back then.

Sounds like one of BIffen's nights out with the ladies.

'ladies', or girls on the avenue?

or should that be Wellingtons St, Biff?

rodney grinter style, without the TWallet bit, the embedded teeth

Was interesting. Gotta wonder if it was Chunk trying to galvanise his team? Would love it if that were the case.

There is absoluytely no doubt Jones did.. I calked for it last week that Jones had to lead this team not just with his stats but with more "come on boys whos with me??"

Green might have offered them a cup of English Breafast.

Apparently Nathan Jones was caught wrestling himself at the MCG on Saturday!

The only way to get a decent fight?

Green might have offered them a cup of English Breafast.

& he would have delivered it to them on silver platter & bowed.

its no wonder we could not develop our kids from 2001 on, with the soft-ees allowed to carry on playing as they did, without the Non-Negotiables rule applied.

North are a fairly solid side.

Nathan and Jack and the boys will need to be both up and on their mettle for this game.

Sorry Mate that is crap......I have seen Green go for the hard ball on many occasions. He may not have been a stand up fighter but he went when he was supposed to

Lets not re write history

People were already writing the history as it was happening Bossdog. Some decided in 2001 that Green was soft and couldn't let go of it despite the evidence.

He was no inside player, for sure, but he put his body on the line when it was required. He took some amazing marks going back with the flight when he was playing as a mid in the later years.

It was one of the great Demonland myths.

Pickett tackling

Phil Read to Byron Pickett to goal, perfection.

The way Green flung himself into contests and at the footy for marks was tremendous, but like any skill - he was far better at it toward the end of his career than at the start.

I don't want to go over old (very old) arguments but the guy worked on a weakness to the point where it wasn't a weakness, I refuse to believe it was never a weakness - I am comfortable with what I saw.
