GAME DAY - Round 11

Featured Replies

I have been a Howe apologist but it's hard to defend his year.

He played OK last week. Must be heading to the Pies....

I think in the second he put his body on the line a couple times (had more impact then some senior players)

While I agree he does panic - I think he's been playing a lot better recently

Not as classy as Brayshaw but doing good things the Toump.

The panicking is all down to his personality I think - he takes mistakes very personally, so each one has a snowballing effect. I suspect he'll always have highs and lows, but we're starting to see what he looks like as a player as his confidence is picking up. I'm really enjoying his game so far today.

Disagree. I think he's made some good decisions under pressure today.

Which have been more than negated by his bad decisions that cost us 2 goals. I want the kid to be a champ, but ATM he is not even close to that. Needs to seriously improve his work under pressure. Cant question his effort though.

Max Gawn 64 supercoach points.

Leave him in for the rest of the year as our number 1 ruckman.

Traded him in this week for Spudchambers

Go away!

Go away!

No DD I will watch the game unfold Why you have such belief in JT beggars me but there you go Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Roo looked like he hurt himself

Whats been wrong with Dunn this year???

Hey Dubbo watch the first quarter

I've watched the whole first half. Some good and some bad from toump but if you can see improvement you're blind

good running Grimes

Fair to say Toumpas struggles under pressure.

space is his grace

Pedo really struggling today

Great tackle stretch

Does anyone else have this issue with not being able to post for 30-40 seconds?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
